Today marks a milestone moment for genre-defying multi-instrumentalist and cult icon Tom Vek, who celebrates 20 years of his landmark debut album We Have Sound with the official announcement of a 10-track remix project: We Have Sound Remixed, arriving October 2 via StrataSonic Records.

Curated personally by Vek, this special anniversary release enlists a stacked roster of forward-thinking artists—each directly influenced by his fusion of guitar-driven indie rock, DIY electronica, and punchy alt-pop. The list includes Glass Animals, alt-J, Everything Everything, Baths, Porij, Dutch Uncles, Anna Prior, Coby Sey, and more.

Leading the charge is “C-C (Dave Glass Animals Remix)”, out now. It’s a joyously off-kilter reimagining from Dave Bayley of Glass Animals, who credits We Have Sound as one of the key records that inspired the band to form.

“Joe from our band would obsess over the drumming. I would obsess over the production,” says Dave. “We had the posters, the vinyl… he had the t-shirt. I didn’t, and I was jealous. That album helped us start making music.”

For Vek, this remix project isn’t just nostalgia—it’s a reawakening:

“I was trying to figure out how to make this 20-year anniversary feel new. And it hit me—remixes,” says Vek. “When Dave sent his in, I nearly fell off my chair. It had this FutureSex/LoveSounds Timbaland vibe, which I once obsessed over trying to emulate. I played it 20 times in a row. That’s always the sign.”

We Have Sound, originally released in 2005, helped define the sharp-edged, synth-tinged indie wave of the mid-2000s. It fused garage rock grit with minimal beats and a bedroom-pop ethos long before it became a movement. This remix collection doesn’t just honor its legacy—it underscores the album’s eerie timelessness and enduring influence on a generation of UK and experimental acts.

Tracklist contributors include:

  • Glass Animals (Dave Bayley)
  • alt-J (Gus Unger-Hamilton)
  • Everything Everything
  • Porij
  • Baths
  • Is Tropical
  • Dutch Uncles
  • Anna Prior
  • Coby Sey
  • Vivid Fever Dreams

Set to arrive this fall, We Have Sound Remixed serves as a sonic time capsule and a bridge to the future—proof that We Have Sound wasn’t just ahead of its time… it still is.

“C-C (Dave Glass Animals Remix)” is out now on all platforms. The full remix album drops October 2 via StrataSonic Records.
