Electronic music pioneer Tom Middleton has joined forces with the elusive Sienna (aka Richard Gwinnett) for the long-awaited release of ‘YNTOO / Olympic’, now available via Anjunadeep Explorations. The track first surfaced on Anjunadeep 08 back in 2016, earning underground acclaim, and is finally stepping into the spotlight with a full release featuring new versions and fresh creative energy.
Best known as one-half of the influential ambient duo Global Communication (alongside Mark Pritchard), Middleton has been a defining voice in electronic music since the early 1990s. His legendary catalog includes the landmark album 76:14, collaborations with Aphex Twin, and remixes for icons like Depeche Mode and Crazy P. His 2001 BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix remains a genre milestone, while more recent projects such as the critically acclaimed wellness LP Sleep Better showcase his ever-evolving artistry.
Originally a Sienna production, ‘YNTOO’ was remixed by Middleton for the Anjunadeep compilation nearly a decade ago. This new release features the full original track, an archival ‘92 Mix from Middleton—a hypnotic, euphoric version that feels both nostalgic and future-forward—and a brand-new remix from Scuba, founder of Hotflush Recordings and a pivotal figure behind the legendary SUB:STANCE nights at Berghain in Berlin.
Scuba’s remix injects a darker, bass-driven edge into ‘YNTOO’, bridging the gap between the UK’s rave heritage and Berlin’s minimal techno era. Known for six studio albums, remixes for Rudimental and John Newman, and a recent release on Sasha’s Last Night On Earth label, Scuba continues to push boundaries with his productions and his popular Not A Diving podcast—where Middleton recently appeared as a guest.
‘YNTOO / Olympic’ isn’t just a single; it’s the rebirth of a track that has quietly lived in the hearts of fans for years. With its mix of archival treasures and bold new interpretations, this release highlights the timeless artistry of Middleton and Sienna while connecting with a new generation of listeners.
Now available on all major platforms via Anjunadeep Explorations, ‘YNTOO / Olympic’ is poised to resonate deeply with fans of deep house, melodic techno, and electronic music history.
