Tim Engelhardt, the renowned German melodic techno producer, has teamed up once again with Israeli dance sensation Sean Doron for their new collaborative EP, ‘Open Doors,’ set for release on June 28th.
Landing on the RÜFÜS DU SOL-owned Rose Avenue label, this EP joins the ranks of releases from artists like Enyma, Cassian, and Rona. The four-track EP features two powerful collaborative tracks along with two solo cinematic dance tracks from Engelhardt, who is widely regarded as a rising star in the melodic techno scene. If their April collaboration ‘So Good’ is any indication, listeners are in for a memorable experience.
The EP’s lead track, ‘Open Doors,’ features vocals from Radoo and incorporates the iconic Banks Brothers sample from Moby‘s 1999 chill-out classic ‘Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad?’ This vocal seamlessly blends with glistening piano riffs and sharp synths, creating a profoundly emotional moment on the dancefloor.
The second collaborative track, ‘I Can’t Get Over You,’ dives into deep trance territory, highlighted by a menacing pitched-down voice ominously repeating the track’s title.
In addition to these collaborative efforts, Tim Engelhardt offers two solo peak-time tracks, ‘Falling’ and ‘Luminescence.’ ‘Falling’ is characterized by sweeping synths and a distinct groove created from gated vocals, while ‘Luminescence’ revolves around intricate high-end arpeggiating synths layered over dramatic low-end braaam-style sounds.
Tim Engelhardt has quickly become one of the most exciting talents in the melodic techno scene. He launched his career with the raw debut album ‘Moments Of Truth,’ released on Steve Bug’s Poker Flat label when he was just 17. His journey began in Cologne, where he learned classical piano before transitioning to electronic production, inspired by local producer Robert Babicz. By the age of 14, he had already released his first vinyl EP.
Engelhardt‘s music, known for its harmonious and expansive melodies, has been featured on labels like Watergate, Innervisions, Vivrant, and Stil vor Talent, where his second album ‘Idiosynkrasia’ was released in 2020. He has performed globally, gracing festivals and clubs across Australia, Africa, India, Europe, and the US.
Born in Tel Aviv, Sean Doron has established himself as a leading figure in Israel’s electronic music scene over the past decade. He founded the Monochrome events series in Tel Aviv, Ibiza, and Miami, and has released music on prominent labels such as Rebellion, Crosstown Rebels, Flying Circus, and Madtech. In 2023, Sean launched the SCENARIOS collective and record label.
Doron has held a residency at Rumors Ibiza and frequently performs at venues like Woomoon Ibiza, IT Mykonos, DGTL Festival, Balaton Festival, Sound LA, Cuckoo London, Watergate TLV, Soundtuary Miami, and Tulum. His tracks are regularly played by major artists such as Solomun, Black Coffee, and Marco Carola, and he has shared stages with Dixon, Ame, Guy Gerber, and more.
This EP serves as a testament to what Tim Engelhardt and Sean Doron, two titans of the melodic techno scene, can achieve together in the studio. The result is a collaborative EP rich in character, emotion, and epic dancefloor appeal.
