This Week’s New Music Is ‘On My Mind’ And ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever’ | Fresh Music Friday

ARTY – ‘Those Eyes (feat. Griff Clawson)’

“‘Those Eyes’ was so much fun to produce. The entire time I spent working on it was nothing but natural fun and pure joy. Everything started with me listening to the demo for the first time and I couldn’t even recognize Griff Clawson’s voice even though we did so many tracks together in the past. And I think that’s what makes this song so unique and catchy. The blend of acoustic instruments and heavily processed vocals creates this strange, almost alienated vibe that immediately catches your ear because of its nature. But it’s not just a fun track to listen to; there is deeper meaning to it if you listen to the lyrics very closely. All in all, I’m very excited about this record finally coming out and I hope people will enjoy it the same way as I do!”

Qrion – ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever’

Japanese DJ and producer Qrion is proud to release her debut album ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever’, out now on all available platforms via Anjunadeep. An album built on nostalgia and sentimentality, ‘I Hope It Lasts Forever’ pays homage to Qrion’s memories of childhood and captures the feelings she felt when moving from her hometown of Sapporo to San Francisco to pursue a career in music.

helloworld – ‘waves’

Enigmatic melodic bass artist, helloworld is returning to Lost In Dreams Records with a tumultuous offering aptly titled ‘waves’, serving as the project’s sophomore single on the burgeoning label. Intent on capturing the rocky exchanges between two connected souls, ‘waves’ brews up an emotional storm through its turbulent structure. The pain is palpable in every vocal croon, with softly delivered words “sometimes I don’t know why I fight back // but it’s all just a game” playing into the push and pull dynamic often felt in moments of disagreement. Ripples of glitchy sound design slowly swell in intensity and frequency over brooding pads and delicate drums, until a tsunami of digitized synth sequences pulls the listener straight into the eye of the storm.

Douran – ‘Sundancer’

Paris-based producer and live act Douran makes his Anjunadeep debut with the three-track EP ‘Sundancer’. Title track ‘Sundancer’ opens the EP, with soft piano melodies and ambient strings. ‘Slow Burner’ leads with an array of emotive strings whilst ‘Passing Lights’ features percussive-laden rhythms and warming vocals. Douran’s latest showcases his cinematic production style.

Farruko – ‘Pepas (Remix EP)’

“Having all of these globally renowned DJs produce their own remix version of ‘Pepas’ is a testament that music is universal. When I recorded this song I knew it was going to be good, but in the manner that it has impacted around the world and people from all walks of life is really something incredible. Grateful for all the support, and especially from these DJs who have played the song in front of thousands of fans and stages all over the world!”

Mashd N Kutcher – ‘On My Mind’

As the tides are turning and the world seems to reopen, duo Mashd N Kutcher is unleashing their massive new hit, ‘On My Mind’. The duo has built a reputation for utilising off kilter, yet universally familiar samples. ‘On My Mind’ lives up to this, sampling a hit record from one of Australia’s most iconic bands. While unpredictable on paper, the track’s final result is an undeniable dance floor filler. The soulful elements of disco combine perfectly with the energy infused vocal sample, all wrapped together with the contemporary dance charm we’ve come to love and know from Mashd N Kutcher.

Conrank – ‘This Simulation’s Breached’

This is it. The definition of an artist and the evolution of his sound. Conrank has delivered his sophomore album and it’s a beast! We present ‘This Simulation’s Breached’.

Mnexis – ‘Stay (feat. Monty Wells)’

Stay’ is a dark and melancholic melodic techno track with a break having deep lyrics and airy vocals that will take your breath away. It’s a record with edgy elements, hard drums and real analog hardware sounds. This is the Mnexis sound and style of melodic techno.

Pauline Herr – ‘Obsession’

Obsession’ is a breath of fresh air from the envelope-pushing artist. Dialing back on the prominent lugubrious spirit shown in her body of work, her new single shows making a much-welcomed advance on the romantic end of the emotional spectrum. Bottling up those butterfly feelings from the blissed-out phase of a newfound relationship, the ethereal wave record opens with her fawning over the sole subject of her heart’s desire. As her fanatical confession loops to seemingly no end, a flood of oxytocin spills into the synapses through an intoxicating blend of ethereal melodies, crisp trap drums, pitched-up vox, rosy horn phrases, and fluttering synths embellishments. At the risk of giving off a real stalker vibe, Pauline Herr’s new single is the only thing that matters in the world right now.

Blonde Maze – ‘Something Familiar’

“‘Something Familiar’ is a collection of songs that detail the yearning for the love and comfort of the past. The album is personally inspired by the conflicting emotions of wanting to move on from love, but not understanding how to let it go. It’s about learning what’s best for yourself and how to piece your independence back together while fighting the gravitation towards the comfort of your past – something familiar. When our lives change, we end up seeking out something familiar, something to grasp onto that feels safe. This album is driven by hopeless love, moving on, and letting go; it is about balancing the comfort of the past with the promise of the future.”

Stimming – ‘Ludwig (Club Versions)’

Both hypnotic and intensely vulnerable, ‘All Mine’ once again reveals ayokay’s incredible ability to fully transport the audience into another world in under three minutes. With its glistening textures and gorgeously airy beats, the track unfolds in an understated but richly layered sound reflecting his deep affinity for ambient electronic music.
