With the announcement of phase two, Summer Camp once again proves why it is in a league of its own. When most just add smaller or local artists, Scamp gives you big names. Scamp has added Griz, Rival Sons, EOTO and Yonder Mountain String Band. These four names perfectly show the diversity and inclusion of this wonderful festival. Summer Camp has always been one of the best multi-genre music festivals. Along with these great additions, they have added new headliners into almost every tier of the lineup. The 20th-anniversary edition is truly shaping up to be one of the ages.
Many festivals do late-night sets however, traditionally these are only for the VIP ticket holders or just those in the camping. Summer Camp does what is called late night in the Barn and you need to buy tickets to attend these shows. It is an equal opportunity for everyone. Scamp has already announced that Umphrey’s McGee is playing Thursday late night. With two sets each night from some of the top tier artists, I can’t wait to see who else they announce!
The amazing team behind summer camp doesn’t just put on this incredible festival. They also produce the On the Road Tour. This tour is a series of shows that aim to bring the same vibe of Scamp while introducing you to some of the artists you might not know.
Summer Camp like many festivals takes the opportunity to get their attendees to give back and make a difference. They have always found a way to make it fun for those who want to participate. They have a scavenger hunt or yoga sessions or even silent art auctions. They make the opportunities interactive and make you really want to participate.
The lineup as it stands along with the amazing chances to participate already should be enough to make one want to go. Yet this team isn’t done yet. They still have more artists, debut and returning to announce. The 20th anniversary of Summer Camp will absolutely be one of the top festivals this summer.
