British house duo The Trip step into 2026 with purpose, unveiling their new single “House Tool,” out January 29 as part of fabric SELECTS VI. The track leads the forthcoming various artists compilation from fabric, placing the London pair at the front of a lineup that spotlights some of the most exciting names across today’s underground scene.

Built on a groove-rich foundation, “House Tool” channels the raw pulse of ’90s underground house. Choppy four-on-the-floor drums lock into an infectious rhythm, creating a no-frills, high-impact cut designed squarely for the dancefloor. It’s a track that doesn’t overcomplicate its mission — instead, it leans into movement, tension, and release, setting the tone for the compilation with effortless control.

Speaking about the record, The Trip shared: “We made this track at Oli’s house one afternoon in October. It’s inspired by some of the jacking sounds of the ’90s US house scenes. It was made in our usual process — inside the box and with a bunch of samples we found from some old records.”

Rooted in UK garage, progressive house, and ’90s house influences, The Trip are the founders of long-running London party series and label Tesselate. After more than a decade immersed in club culture as both curators and producers, their sound has remained firmly shaped by the dancefloor. Their momentum surged through 2024 with releases on Fantasy Traxx and Uncovered, including five tracks featured in a summer mix by Job Jobse.

In 2025, the duo earned a nomination for DJ Mag’s Best of British Breakthrough Producer Award, delivered remixes for Job Jobse’s label and Palms Trax, and expanded their collaborative catalog with joint EPs alongside Papa Nugs and Demi Riquisimo. They also dropped their solo EP Clubdance2025, appeared on Mixmag Lab, and recorded mixes for Feel My Bicep and BBC Radio 1.

Since opening its doors in 1999, fabric has remained a pillar of London’s electronic music landscape. Its influence stretches beyond the club through fabric Records and its imprints fabric Originals, FABRICLIVE, and Houndstooth, each dedicated to pushing underground sounds forward. Launched in 2022 under fabric Originals, the fabric SELECTS series takes a fresh approach to curation, moving away from traditional DJ mixes in favor of original tracks from both established and emerging artists. Each installment captures the energy and diversity of the dancefloor through fabric’s perspective.

With “House Tool,” The Trip set the pace for fabric SELECTS VI, delivering a stripped-back, groove-driven house cut that nods to the past while staying locked into the present — a fitting introduction to the sounds shaping the underground right now.
