Now when you hear House music your mind may automatically take you to a happy bouncy place. But I’m telling you there is way more to House music than you think. Artists such as Drezo, One True God, and Chuurch are redefining the genre and adding a darker side to House music.

Drezo

Drezo has emerged from the underground house music scene and has been taking the industry by storm. With releases on labels such as OWSLA and Mad Decent, this Los Angeles based producer has stayed true to his underground roots and challenges the mainstream driven world of electronic dance music. His distinctive sound is a beautiful blend of deep and dark basslines that will give you goosebumps and you’ll find yourself mesmerized by his music. Listen to my top pick “Heaven” below!

One True God

After stumbling upon one of his tracks on a SoundCloud I ended up binging through his entire track list. I scoured the internet for more information from this elusive producer but could only find his socials with little to no info which ended up enticing me more. This artist uses haunting vocals over his tracks to give it a chilling vibe. Check out my favourite track Sleep.

Chuurch

These boys are the kings of Lean Bass, though they are no strangers to the darker side of house music with guest mixes appearing on Dr. Fresch’s “The Prescription” series. This duo has emerged from the underground Canadian electronic music scene and has now been booked across North America. Their music is uncanny and unique in its nature, aggressive- yet moving. You’ll find yourself absorbed by these two talented producers and their passion which is evident through their sound. Check out my favourite track “Purple Ghost” below.
