The 2019 edition of HiJinx Fest in Philadelphia is the perfect way to kick off New Year’s Eve parties. Only in its second year, Hijinx is already bringing some of the EDM world’s heaviest hitters: Porter Robinson, Zeds Dead, Skrillex, and Bassnectar to name a few. Throw in Excision b2b Slander and all we can say is “what the fuckkkkk?”
There is no denying that the headliners are undeniably bat-shit-insane, but the undercards have some sick names too. Subtronics? A bass heads dream.
Subtronics being on the lineup is only made sweeter by the fact we will get an appearance from Griz, too. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, their song “Griztronics” has been one of 2019’s biggest songs – and we are not about to stop hearing it anytime soon. This past weekend alone I heard three different DJ’s drop three different remixes of the tune.
There might be some names coming to Hijinx you haven’t heard of though. You might think it’s worth staying in your hotel to pregame before the main acts, but we’re here to tell you: it’s not. Here are three artists you simply cannot miss.
Coming out of France, CloZee has quickly made her mark on the Bass music scene for her moody, eclectic sound. She’s been hitting the festival circuit hard the last few years performing at festivals like Electric Forest and Lightning in a Bottle. Calling her genre “World Bass,” CloZee is inspired by her international travels which have exposed her to a wide range of cultures. She headlined her own tour this past fall, called the “Evasion” tour after her sophomore EP, hitting cities like New York, Nashville, and Los Angeles. The girl knows how to throw down and bring the Bass heads out.

Big Wild
Jackson Stell, better known as Big Wild started out his career as a Hip-Hop beat producer and worked as a composer for an advertising agency. Then he moved to L.A., where he started his electronic project Big Wild. He is, undeniably, a genius when it comes to music. A producer, composer, vocalist, and engineer all in one, Stell knows how to create music that will hit your ears at just the right pitch. Upon its release in April 2015, his first big breakout track “Aftergold”, which featured Tove Styrke, topped the Spotify Global Viral chart. His debut album “Superdream” came out earlier this year in February. His live show consists of him switching seamlessly through multiple instruments including drum pads and keyboards, so not only is he great to listen to but he’s enjoyable to watch perform.
SoDown
SoDown is Bass music served up with a side of soul. Adding live sax to his tunes, Ehren River Wright (or, SoDown) has been creeping up in the Bass scene in 2019, making appearances in big cities all across the U.S. Wright is a music producer and a part of Griz’s music label. His live sets contain his own personal blend of music which he separates into three distinct categories: SoHeavy, SoGroovy, and SoChill. To Wright, to be SoDown is to “seize every opportunity, explore new grounds, try new things and ultimately live the most epic life possible. This universe is far too beautiful and life is simply too short to not do what makes you happy. Unconditional love is the most powerful force in the world, and bass music is my way of expressing it.”
HiJinx is going to be held on December 27th and 28th at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Tickets are still on sale. Click here for tickets!
