Rising IDM and experimental electronic producer Textbook Maneuver shares his latest single “Places”, released December 5, 2025 via his Life Science Records imprint. The track follows the acclaimed µ‑Ziq remix of his song “Adrenaline Slip”, which premiered on Wonderland Magazine and amassed nearly 150,000 streams across platforms. Textbook Maneuver continues to draw attention from the global IDM community, with features in Magnetic Magazine, Illustrate Magazine, WWAM (We Write About Music), Music For All (Brazil), and Good Music Radar highlighting the immersive scope of his 2025 debut album Adrenaline Slip.

Textbook Maneuver is the creative alias of Bronx-born, New Jersey-based composer Michael Keane. A classically trained pianist with a punk DIY ethos, Keane fuses cinematic storytelling with intricate sound design. His influences span Genesis (Duke era), Rush, Gary Numan, The Postal Service, U.N.K.L.E., and Phantogram, blending the cerebral intellect of IDM with the emotive resonance of ambient and progressive electronica. Critics have drawn comparisons to Jon Hopkins and Nils Frahm, while listeners may also hear echoes of Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, and Autechre. His work thrives on improvisation and sonic experimentation, creating expansive soundscapes that defy genre while remaining accessible to new audiences.

“Places” opens with plaintive piano motifs that evolve into a vast, wintry soundscape, infused with nostalgia and subtle, tactile textures. Sparse, reverberant drums guide the track toward a brooding cinematic outro, balancing emotional resonance with immersive production.

Reflecting on the inspiration behind the single, Textbook Maneuver shares:
“If you’ve ever walked through the corridors of a music school, you hear piano and other instruments resonating from behind walls and doors. This past October, after finishing some projects, I took a break to write something new. While composing, feelings of nostalgia and echoes of past places came together, including memories of walking through music school halls. I used effects and distortion to heighten that nostalgia and created the cover art by compiling old photos from places I’ve been — a simple collage to reflect the track’s journey.”

Stream “Places now on all major platforms and experience Textbook Maneuver’s latest exploration of memory, emotion, and cinematic sound design.
