Teanga Teanga, the transatlantic collaboration between New York art-pop artist Pamela Sue Mann and Dublin composer-producer Paul Murphy, breathe new life into the timeless classic “Around The World” with a haunting new interpretation arriving worldwide on June 26, 2026. Rather than simply revisiting the beloved standard, the duo transform it into a deeply atmospheric meditation on memory, longing, and emotional connection through an immersive blend of synth-pop, ambient electronics, and cinematic sound design.

Originally popularized by the legendary Nat King Cole in 1956, “Around The World” is reimagined as an intimate and contemporary listening experience. Sweeping synthesizers, spectral textures, spoken-word passages, and lush string arrangements replace the original’s orchestral grandeur, while Pamela Sue Mann‘s expressive vocal performance uncovers a new emotional depth at the heart of the classic composition.

The project grew naturally from a series of experimental studio sessions and long-distance file-sharing between Mann and Murphy, whose collaborative process thrives on spontaneity and creative instinct.

“We suddenly got inspired by something,” Murphy explains. “If we both buzz off it, we start digging in and seeing what comes out.”

For Mann, the challenge of recording such an iconic song extended far beyond simply creating a fresh arrangement.

“If you’re going to do a cover,” she says, “you’ve got to have something soulful—depth, honesty, empathy. Otherwise you’re just doing a cover.”

That philosophy defines the heart of Teanga Teanga‘s interpretation. The duo describe the recording as “time travel through music,” drawing inspiration from the elegance of 1950s cinema, the sincerity of 1970s pop, ambient electronica, and avant-garde theatre to create something that feels both nostalgic and entirely original.

“It’s a completely different song,” Mann reflects, “and at the same time, it has the same heart.”

Teanga Teanga unites two artists with extensive creative backgrounds. Pamela Sue Mann, a singer-songwriter, pianist, producer, and poet based in New York, has collaborated and toured with internationally recognized artists including Suzanne Vega, Donna Lewis, David Barron, and Gerry Leonard. Her work has also earned high praise from avant-garde icon Laurie Anderson, who described it as “a masterpiece.”

Meanwhile, Paul Murphy, also known as PXMurphy, has built a distinguished career as a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, composer, and producer. Based in Dublin, he is widely recognized for his work in television, film, and advertising music, as well as his contributions to Electric Penguins, bringing decades of production expertise and sonic experimentation to the collaboration.

Together, Teanga Teanga blend their diverse musical backgrounds into a sound that transcends genre boundaries. By preserving the emotional essence of “Around The World” while reshaping it through cinematic electronics and contemporary production, the duo deliver a cover that feels less like a reinterpretation and more like a rediscovery—honoring the spirit of a timeless classic while giving it an entirely new voice.
