Montreal-based electronic artist and trance visionary TDJ has returned with the highly anticipated finale of her SPF INFINI series, titled SPF INFINI: GENESIS. This ambitious, multi-faceted project combines a narrative-driven music video, a flawless DJ mix, and a 36-track compilation of all-original music, now available via Collection Disques Durs.
GENESIS serves as the final chapter in TDJ’s trance-infused experimental saga, continuing the series’ exploration of profound disconnection between humans and their environment. While previous episodes of SPF INFINI delved into cinematic, tech-obsessed landscapes reminiscent of Black Mirror, this new installment embarks on a journey to the skies, blending fantastical elements like dragon dances, impromptu sky-diving, and mile-high love stories. Over the course of its 83-minute runtime, GENESIS explores multiple plotlines with a stunning visual and sonic narrative that encapsulates the many facets of TDJ’s rich aesthetic.
Reflecting on the project, TDJ states:
“The concept of infinity really speaks for its matter in this edition. We can even say that SPF INFINI 3: TDJ LIVES FOREVER (AND EVER) was somehow announcing this fourth edition that is, in fact, the genesis, the rebirth, and the grand finale of this adventure that is marked in time in a timeless form.”
The compilation features 36 original, previously unreleased tracks curated by TDJ, spotlighting up-and-coming talents like SofTT, Panteros666, fknsyd, Yoshiko, and 1luu. Rooted in trance, the project also delves into adjacent genres like electro, techno, hardcore, and emo, further expanding the TDJ universe.
Known for her icy on-screen persona in the SPF INFINI series, TDJ channels a different energy during her live performances, captivating audiences with her electric stage presence. Her Trance Detente Jazz tour will continue throughout the fall with performances at Intercell for ADE, Dreamstate Festival in Southern California, and both EDSea and EDC Orlando.
With co-signs from influential tastemakers like Pitchfork, Beatportal, DJ Mag, and Wonderland, Geneviève Ryan-Martel (aka TDJ) is making her mark as a versatile artist, blending the euphoria of trance with the raw emotional depth of emo. Whether as a producer, songwriter, singer, DJ, or video star, TDJ continues to craft a deeply personal and nostalgic sonic universe that resonates both audibly and visually.
