Los Angeles-based producer Tavatli makes his electrifying debut on NIGHTMODE with the ‘Afraid of the Dark’ EP, a two-track journey that showcases the duality of his sound. Blending melodic techno with raw, club-driven energy, the EP balances captivating crossover vocals with hypnotic, pulse-pounding beats—a testament to Tavatli’s rising influence in the electronic music scene.
The title track, “Afraid of the Dark”, is a melodic techno anthem that walks the fine line between shadowy mystique and uplifting euphoria. Built on propulsive basslines, atmospheric textures, and tension-building leads, the track weaves a sultry and confident vocal performance through layers of moody pads and crisp percussion. The result? A mainstage-ready masterpiece that invites listeners into its dark-yet-inviting sonic embrace.
On the flip side, “Chemicals” pushes into darker, rave-driven territory with the help of singer-songwriter Luxtides, whose previous work with Trivecta, Manila Killa, Crystal Skies, and Spag Heddy cements her as a powerhouse collaborator. The track builds from a minimal, suspenseful intro into a peak-time techno explosion, powered by slamming kicks, pulsing basslines, and haunting vocal chops. A stripped-down final drop heightens the intensity before delivering an unstoppable, rave-fueled climax.
Speaking on the release, Tavatli shares:
“‘Afraid of the Dark’ and ‘Chemicals’ are both songs that I believe define my sound and passion for electronic music. With ‘Afraid of the Dark’ being my melodic side and ‘Chemicals’ being my harder side, this EP demonstrates the future of what’s to come. I’m very honored to be releasing on NIGHTMODE as the label has been very influential to me over the years.”
With a sound that seamlessly bridges festival anthems and underground club energy, Tavatli is proving to be an artist to watch.
