The long-running relationship between Aus Music and fabric Records enters a new chapter with “We Synthesize,” the first single from the forthcoming collaborative EP Room 02. Pairing UK underground standouts SYREETA and Huxley, the track brings together two distinctive approaches to club music for a deep, rolling production built firmly around the dancefloor.
From its opening moments, “We Synthesize” settles into a chunky groove driven by crisp percussion and a deep, persistent low end. Supple synth lines move through the rhythm while SYREETA’s sultry, commanding vocal adds another layer of tension and attitude, giving the track a seductive quality without taking away from its club-focused foundation.
The collaboration also feels particularly fitting given the history behind Room 02. For more than 15 years, Aus Music was a quarterly fixture in fabric’s Room 2, turning the space into an important platform for emerging artists and a testing ground for new sounds across house, garage and bass.
That relationship has produced plenty of memorable moments over the years, including Joy Orbison’s fabric debut and the first-ever CLOSE Live show from Aus Music founder Will Saul. With the long-running residency now approaching its conclusion, Room 02 looks back on that history while creating a new point of connection between established artists and the contemporary underground.
For Huxley, the collaboration with SYREETA developed quickly after the two connected in the studio earlier this year.
“Syreeta and I sat down in the studio earlier this year and came out with a bunch of great records, but this track in particular felt special. I’m very happy to have coming out with a club I share a great fondness with and AUS who I obviously have a long history with!”
SYREETA was already familiar with Huxley’s work, making the studio meeting a natural starting point for the collaboration.
“I’ve always loved Huxley’s production, so when we were introduced through a mutual friend, we got in the studio straight away. We Synthesize grew out of that session, a hypnotic groove, emotive harmonic layers, and a seductive vocal. It’s a meeting point between our sounds: built for the dance floor, but with plenty of soul.”
That balance between rhythmic weight and emotional detail is what gives “We Synthesize” its identity. The production remains focused on movement, but the vocal and melodic layers prevent it from becoming purely functional club music. Instead, SYREETA and Huxley find a middle ground where groove, atmosphere and personality can all exist within the same track.
The single serves as the introduction to Room 02, a various-artists EP celebrating the creative relationship between Aus Music and fabric. More than simply revisiting the history of a longstanding residency, the project creates a snapshot of the sounds and artists connected to that relationship as it moves toward its next stage.
With its deep low end, hypnotic synth work and commanding vocal presence, “We Synthesize” sets an appropriate tone for that transition. SYREETA and Huxley take the spirit of the Aus Music and fabric connection and translate it into a record made for contemporary dancefloors, combining underground sensibilities with the kind of groove designed to keep a room moving.
“We Synthesize” is out September 18 via Aus Music and fabric Records, serving as the first taste of Room 02.
