SVDDEN DEATH Presents Post-Apocalyptic VOYD set in The Blood Cave

by The Freaks - Staff

Rising star DJ and producer Danny Howland, who performs as SVDDEN DEATH, also known as SVDDEN Daddy or “that bitch” by his fans, came out for blood in another mind-bending VOYD performance—but this time, in a cave.  Shit got demonic at The Caverns amphitheater in Pelham, Tennessee just outside of Nashville on March 6, 2020.  The venue is best known as a bluegrass haven and is located at the base of the Cumberland Plateau, one of the most cavernous regions in the world.  The wow-factor of the cave paired with outstanding acoustics makes this newer venue a must-experience for music lovers everywhere.

Howland prides himself over the fact that each SVDDEN DEATH and VOYD set is curated specifically for each event, making every experience unique and worth it to see him live over and over and over again.  His signature heavy drops resonating through the venue’s hollow chamber blew the minds and bodies of each of the 1,000+ cave dwellers. Those who submitted such vital organs to the skulled DJ himself call the intimate experience, The Blood Cave.  The post-apocalyptic atmosphere beckoned attendees to let go of reality and immerse themselves in the momentous experience. Watch the recap video here!

The event was scheduled at the beginning of March, right as the threat of Covid-19 was just beginning to be a murmur on the lips of media outlets in the United States.  Fans poured in from hours away in order to see the fluffy blonde-haired Danny Howland be self-sacrificed so the iconic skull-headed VOYD persona could rise from his grave. Attendees, including myself, didn’t know the extent of the life-altering measures about to take place in the coming weeks, but there was a sense of solidarity amongst the crowd that we were fortunate to be there.  Fans bellowed along to track after track, voracious mosh pits opened in pockets throughout the crowd, and the energy of bass and vibration flowed through all of us as we basked in the satanic sights and demonic sounds surrounding our collective being.  This is truly an experience that all present will cherish as we move forward into an uncertain 2020, as all of our favorite festivals are post-posted, canceled, or held in limbo.

SVDDEN DEATH along with Phiso and Somnium Sound make up the first Electronic Dance Music line up to debut at this ancient subterranean site.  Each artist utilized the full effect of the venue, displaying their unique and dynamic visuals on all surrounding cavern walls. The lazers and signature imagery took on a new sense of life as they bounced off each nook and rock face differently as the lights glided and flashed across the ceiling. My one tip to all future cave dwellers? This is the one venue that you’re gonna want to stand in the back!

SVDDEN DEATH continues to ride his momentum from The Blood Cave into our living rooms, recently performing a live stream for Beyond Wonderland’s Virtual Rave-A-Thon. Watch his full set below, and find him on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and on his official website. Interested in his new songs, including “Crusade” with Marshmello?
