Genre-defying electronic music producer Subtronics is set to push the boundaries of sonic storytelling once again with his newly announced EP, ‘Fibonacci Part 1: Oblivion,’ arriving April 4, 2025, via Cyclops Recordings. The announcement came today (March 28) at the close of his electrifying Ultra Music Festival mainstage performance, where he teased fans with several tracks from the upcoming release, including a live performance of “Final Breath” featuring A Little Sound.
‘Fibonacci Part 1: Oblivion’ marks the first half of a two-part project, which will ultimately culminate in a full-length album upon the release of Part 2 (date TBD). The eight-track EP is crafted for high-energy live sets, while its counterpart will take listeners on an entirely different auditory experience.
Building on the mathematical and cosmic themes explored in his previous albums—‘FRACTALS’ (2022) and ‘TESSERACT’ (2024)—Subtronics continues to weave mathematical theory into his artistic expression. The Fibonacci sequence, where each number is the sum of the two preceding ones, plays a central role in the concept, with eight tracks symbolizing a key number in the pattern. Oblivion represents the start of an ever-expanding equation, with each track forming a distinct piece of the larger story.
Subtronics shares, “Part 1 of the EP conveys that all of reality, in its complexity and grandeur, originates from nature and the fundamental laws of the universe. It emphasizes the Fibonacci sequence and golden ratio as intrinsic patterns that govern nature, not through divine intervention, but through physics. Building on themes of alternate dimensions and fractals, the Fibonacci spiral is presented as the foundational DNA of reality.”
Beyond his studio work, Subtronics will continue making waves across the global festival circuit in 2025. Fans can catch him at his Las Vegas residency with Wynn Nightlife, his fifth annual Cyclops Rocks at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and various Cyclops events, including Cyclops Cove, Cyclops Desert, and Cyclops Dome. He will also headline major festivals across Asia, the UK/EU, Australia, and beyond.
With ‘Fibonacci Part 1: Oblivion’, Subtronics once again proves why he remains at the forefront of innovation in bass music, blending intricate sound design with deep conceptual storytelling.
