Recently, Subtronics and Alison Wonderland released their first official collab onto streaming platforms. The dubstep hit “No One Does It Like” is sure to vibrate every bone in your body at festivals this year.
The song starts with pleasant, bell-like tones that slowly build in tempo before being interrupted by Alison Wonderland’s vocals claiming, “No one’s ever done it like.” You’re then slammed with a hard-hitting, grungy bassline that still manages to be filled with a groove that’ll move you down to your hips.
After the first drop, you are brought back to the ethereal bells to catch your breath. The vocals are now a distant echo. Quickly, the drums climb into the mix, pushing toward the next section. Before long, Alison Wonderland repeats her vocal line, with a bass hit between each repetition, carrying you into the final drop. The final drop is largely similar to the first but chopped up slightly to raise the groove to a more prominent place in the mix.
At the end, there is a fun switch-up section that changes the bassline into more of a very slow bounce. It’s an interesting treat for those of us who refuse to skip songs until the very end, but it doesn’t fit the song well.
Overall, it’s a very fun song that blends the more mainstage sounds of Alison Wonderland with the heavy bass sounds of Subtronics perfectly. I feel we will all be hearing it remixed this coming festival season countless times on the big sound systems.
This release is bittersweet for some, though, as this is not the first collaboration we have heard from this duo. Last year, their remix of Creeds’ “Push Up” went viral at festivals around the world. Despite the overwhelmingly positive reaction from fans of both artists, they were never able to officially release the remix on streaming platforms.
However, due to the massive reaction from fans to “No One Does It Like,” Alison Wonderland announced that they had released a bootleg of the “Push Up“ remix onto SoundCloud. This version even includes a hilarious outro from Subtronics himself to help avoid SoundCloud’s audio copyright system.
With Alison Wonderland claiming they have 37 works in progress, I am excited to see what else these two have in store for us this year. I hope I get to see for myself at Cyclope Desert on March 7-8, 2025, at the Rawhide Event Center.
