Sub Focus unleashes his highly anticipated new album Contact, out now via Casablanca Records, delivering fourteen explosive, vocal-driven tracks that reaffirm his status as one of electronic music’s most influential heavyweights. Featuring a powerful lineup of collaborators including Grimes, Fireboy DML, John Summit, Katy B, IRAH, bbyclose, Poppy Baskcomb, Connie Constance, Inez, and more, the project showcases the full breadth of his cross-genre innovation and razor-sharp production.
Long regarded as a figurehead in drum & bass, Sub Focus continues to push the frontier of the genre with Contact, fusing elements of electro, trance, dancehall, and his iconic D&B framework. Tracks like “Entwined” featuring Grimes—spotlighted in Rolling Stone’s Songs You Need to Know—and “Original Don” with Fireboy DML embody his ability to meld massive hooks with sci-fi-laced sound design. Meanwhile, “Go Back,” which has amassed over 151 million global streams, blends John Summit’s progressive house sensibility with the high-velocity energy that has defined Sub Focus’ signature sound. His collaboration with Katy B, “Push The Tempo,” recently secured his first-ever #1 on U.S. Dance Radio.
Critics across the electronic landscape have celebrated Contact as another milestone in Sub Focus’ evolution. DJ Mag praised the project as “accessible, crossover D&B… inviting new fans into the scene rather than leaving it behind.” Billboard hailed “Entwined” as a “D&B thrill ride,” spotlighting the seamless interplay between Grimes’ ethereal vocals and Sub Focus’ spatial, futuristic production. EDM.com called the record his “most ambitious album yet,” inspired by humanity’s earliest attempts to reach beyond Earth. Westword echoed its creative boldness, highlighting the project’s dynamic collaborations and multi-genre fusion.
Visually, Contact expands its worldbuilding through artwork and creative direction led by Sub Focus in collaboration with acclaimed photographer Neil Krug and design studio Big Active. Drawing from retro-futurism, space-race-era technology, and the iconic NASA Voyager Golden Record, the aesthetic deepens the album’s themes of cosmic communication and exploration.
Contact marks the fourth solo studio album from Sub Focus, following his BRIT-certified Silver albums Sub Focus, Torus, and his 2023 UK Top 40 release Evolve. Its arrival crowns what has already been a monumental year: he sold out Alexandra Palace in London and The Shrine in Los Angeles with his Circular Sound show, delivered his biggest performance to date at Glastonbury Festival, and—alongside Dimension, Culture Shock, and 1991 as part of the WORSHIP collective—became the first drum & bass act in history to headline and sell out Red Rocks Amphitheatre. He is also slated to perform at Coachella and Ultra Music Festival in 2026 with WORSHIP.
To celebrate the album’s release, Sub Focus will take the stage at a sold-out show at KOKO in London on Saturday, November 22, marking yet another milestone in a career defined by constant reinvention and indisputable impact.
Sub Focus’ new album Contact is available now on all platforms via Casablanca Records.
