Splice, the platform empowering music creators worldwide, has unveiled “Splice Sessions: South Africa,” a groundbreaking collection of sample packs that celebrate the rich, rhythmic essence of South African music. Expanding on past sessions from Senegal and Anguilla, this latest release features five new packs spanning Afro House, amapiano, gqom, and Afro Tech, offering producers an authentic sonic experience rooted in South African culture.

Recorded at Jazzworx, Johannesburg’s premier recording studio, the project brings together veteran and rising talents in South Africa’s electronic scene. Contributors include Kooldrink (Tyla, Aluna), Dr Feel (Defected), Afro Tech duo Kususa (Defected, Get Physical, Armada), and legendary guitarist Themba Mokoena (Sibongile Khumalo, Miriam Makeba, Dorothy Masuka). By working with these influential artists, Splice Sessions: South Africa highlights the musicians and producers who define the region’s unmistakable energy and musical soul.

As part of the release, Splice has also introduced a new “Afro” genre to its Create tool, allowing producers to seamlessly integrate these samples into their projects using Splice AI. The demand for Afro House has surged—in 2024, it ranked as the third fastest-growing genre among Splice users in Johannesburg, with downloads spiking over 200%. With its global appeal, Afro House continues to attract international producers, securing its place among Splice’s top ten most-searched genres.

Kususa shared their excitement:
“Partnering with Splice has been an amazing opportunity to elevate the authentic sounds of South Africa. We’re very excited to share our pack and hope that it inspires other producers.”

Kenny Ochoa, Splice SVP of Content, added:
“We’re excited to bring these South African sounds to creators around the world. Genres like Afro House, Afro Tech, and amapiano are shaping the future of music. The team had an incredible time working with these local musicians to capture the energy of South Africa and Johannesburg, and the result is electric.”

With “Splice Sessions: South Africa,” Splice continues its mission to amplify regional sounds and provide producers with the tools to explore, experiment, and innovate—bridging cultures and expanding the global music landscape.
