Sparrow & Barbossa Reimagine “Nterini” With Luch on Vibrant Afro House Remix

by Press Release

Swiss-Uruguayan production duo Sparrow & Barbossa continue their mission of fusing global influences with deep, emotive house music. Known for pioneering their signature “Caribbean House” sound, the pair has made a lasting impact on the Afro House scene. Now, they revisit one of their most celebrated remixes—Fatoumata Diawara’s powerful composition “Nterini”—with a fresh, evocative rework alongside Mexico City’s Luch.

Originally released in 2020, Sparrow & Barbossa’s remix of “Nterini” captured the heart-wrenching story of migration and separation through Diawara’s poetic vocals, sung in her native West African dialect. Their reimagination of the track earned widespread acclaim, weaving rich tribal rhythms and hypnotic melodies into its deeply emotional core. Now, with “Nterini 2.0”, the duo and Luch breathe new life into the piece, layering wistful piano motifs, airy atmospherics, vibrant percussion, and textured harmonies that heighten its emotional depth.

Speaking about the release, Sparrow & Barbossa share:
“‘Nterini 2.0’ is extremely special and close to our hearts. It was a challenge to do justice to such a classic song, but we hope our fans will appreciate this new version. Creating this alongside Luch has been an amazing experience, and we hope this is just the first of many collaborations together.”

The track, which originally began as a birthday gift from Luch to Bryan Coletta (Sparrow), has already garnered 2.6 million streams, with support from artists like Mòo & Jo, Maz, Sofi Tukker, Bhaskar, and Malóne. Meanwhile, the original “Nterini” earned recognition from major outlets such as NPR, COLORS, Afropop Worldwide, and Paste Magazine.

Tour Dates & Where to Listen

As Luch prepares for upcoming performances at EDC Mexico, DHM Factory Town, and DeepHouseBible at Giza Pyramids, Sparrow & Barbossa continue their Tortuga showcase tour, hitting major venues including Floyd (Miami Music Week), Coachella, Space Miami, Lula Club (Madrid), Xanadu (NYC), and Night We Met (Nashville).

Sparrow & Barbossa, Luch, and Fatoumata Diawara’s “Nterini 2.0” is out now on Insomniac Records—an essential addition to the evolving Afro House movement.
