Slowpalace Marks Return to NIGHTMODE With Emotional Bass-Driven Single “bettr off”

Los Angeles producer Slowpalace returns to NIGHTMODE with his sophomore single “bettr off,” marking the end of a brief release hiatus and ushering in a new chapter for his genre-fluid project. Out September 5, the track highlights his ability to transform heavy bass foundations into emotionally charged soundscapes that balance intensity with vulnerability.

Rooted in bass house but pulling inspiration from the golden age of complextro and brostep, “bettr off” twists falsetto-laced hooks through flickering synth sequences, with staccato leads slicing against growling sawtooth basslines and restless drum programming. The result is a dark yet uplifting undercurrent, pulsing like a heartbeat and reflecting the track’s themes of closure and renewal.

The release follows Slowpalace’s 2021 single “Blurred” and his contribution “No Words” to NIGHTMODE’s inaugural ‘NIGHT DRIVE’ compilation, both of which earned support from Zeds Dead, Don Diablo, NGHTMRE, and SLANDER, along with coverage from outlets including DJ Times, EKM, Festival Season, The Music Essentials, and UFO Network. Named one of Your EDM’s Top Artists to Watch in 2021, Slowpalace has since solidified his reputation as a boundary-pushing artist with live performances supporting electronic heavyweights k?d and Madeon.

Beyond singles, Slowpalace’s discography spans releases on Monstercat, Proximity, and NIGHTMODE, culminating in his 2024 debut album gemini—a multi-genre statement weaving electronic, house, synth-pop, and indie influences into a cohesive body of work.

With “bettr off,” Slowpalace continues to expand his sound, delivering a track that balances raw energy with emotional depth. It serves as a natural progression from his past work while pointing toward the evolving direction of his project.

Sharing the inspiration behind the release, Slowpalace explains: “This is my first label release in nearly three years, and I’m so excited that it’s happening on NIGHTMODE. To me, ‘bettr off’ celebrates the choice of moving on and moving forward with life, and not being bitter anymore about things that have happened in the past.”
