UK electronic producer/DJ Shadient has unleashed his blistering new track “INTERLOPER,” the second single off his forthcoming INTRUDER EP, due out August 8 on HypnoVizion. Propelled by darkstep roots and shaped for the modern bass landscape, the single is a sonic assault that pushes the boundary between nostalgia and next-gen production.
Drenched in cinematic textures and sharpened with surgical precision, “INTERLOPER” bursts with zippering synths, machine-gun percussion, and a jagged rhythmic flow that taps into Shadient’s early influences—namely the heavy-hitters of UK drum & bass and darkstep like Evol Intent, Ewun, and Technical Itch. It’s an adrenaline-fueled ride through the chaos, delivering an industrial edge and emotional depth that’s become the hallmark of Shadient’s sound.
“‘INTERLOPER’ is a high-energy start to the EP, massively influenced by a lot of the early darkstep DnB I was listening to as a kid… I tried to pay homage to those acts with the techy stabs while bringing it forward to 2025 with a modern production approach,” explains Shadient.
First making waves in 2014, the Essex-born artist quickly gained attention for his emotionally charged, genre-defying production. With early support from tastemakers like Porter Robinson, Madeon, and RL Grime, Shadient carved a niche through releases on Sable Valley, Pilot, and mau5trap, while remixing heavyweights like Feed Me and Nitepunk.
His partnership with HypnoVizion began in 2023 with the track “Blue In The Face” on Rezz’s IT’S NOT A PHASE EP, followed by the INTRUDER EP’s lead single “SECRET PATH.” Now, with “INTERLOPER,” he continues to amplify the stakes ahead of his first full solo project on the label. Fans can also catch Shadient live this fall, performing alongside Rezz at her annual Rezz Rocks show on October 18 at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
