Premiered during their Anjunadeep Miami b2b set in 2024, “Dead Synthy” marks the first-ever collaboration between progressive house icons Sasha and Marsh.
The track embodies a quintessential slice of progressive house magic, offering a calm and inviting atmosphere reminiscent of floating through little fluffy clouds. Blending electro elements with ethereal, angelic vocals, “Dead Synthy” delivers a golden-age vibe that pays homage to the genre’s roots while feeling refreshingly contemporary.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Marsh recalls how it all began just a week before their Miami set. Sasha reached out with an initial draft titled “Dead Synthy,” drawing him in with its atmosphere, chords, vocals, and arpeggios. Inspired, Marsh developed the main riff, bassline, and drums, crafting a first version they could test live. When Sasha compared the riff to Jam & Spoon’s legendary “Stella,” Marsh admits he had never heard of them at the time. Despite that, the collaboration continued, with Sasha refining the mix and adding his signature touch. The result is a track that showcases both artists’ strengths, with Marsh especially praising the intricate processing in the breakdown, calling it “mental” and unique to the track’s journey.
For Marsh, 2024 was a milestone year, marked by a string of standout releases and an intense global tour schedule, including the launch of his ARIA hybrid showcase. His performances saw him selling out London’s Outernet and closing Red Rocks under a blizzard. He kicks off 2025 with another career highlight, bringing his All Night Long show back to Fabric for the second year in a row on February 7.
Sasha, a true pioneer in the scene, continues to evolve his legacy as one of the world’s most revered DJs. Famed for seamlessly blending house, techno, and trance, his impact extends beyond the club circuit. His score for the Da Vinci interactive exhibition in Berlin (2022) earned multiple accolades, including Best Immersive Experience (Art Directors Club, 2022) and Best Experimental Design (Creative Pool Awards, 2022).
Together, Sasha and Marsh have crafted something truly special with “Dead Synthy,” a track destined to resonate far beyond the dancefloor.
Sasha x Marsh “Dead Synthy” is out February 4 on Anjunadeep.
