The open-air music festival rural 2026 will unfold across four immersive days from July 17–20, 2026, landing once again at nowhere CAMP in the Numajiri Highlands of Fukushima. Marking the third consecutive year at this striking природный site, the gathering continues its mission of spotlighting artists who move beyond traditional genre lines, spanning techno, house, experimental sounds, and forward-thinking club music from across the globe.
Artist Lineup
Leading the first wave of announcements are Willikens & Ivkovic, the formidable duo of Lena Willikens and Vladimir Ivkovic. Widely revered as “DJ’s DJs,” both artists have shaped underground electronic culture through iconic sets at legendary clubs and festivals worldwide. Each has previously appeared at rural solo, making this long-awaited back-to-back performance a meaningful evolution of their relationship with the festival.
Also set for a milestone appearance is Al Wootton, the UK producer known for bass-driven rhythms and meticulous sonic experimentation. His debut performance in Japan will include both a live set and a DJ set, offering a full-spectrum look into his sound.
Representing Georgia’s influential club BASSIANI, resident NDRX joins the lineup, bringing the deep, hypnotic energy that has made the Tbilisi institution a global techno beacon. He’s joined by Spekki Webu, the Delft-based artist exploring the outer edges of psychedelic electronic music, who will perform B2B with OCCA, a rising force expanding from Sapporo to international stages. From Taipei’s fast-evolving underground comes YuY, an enigmatic artist carving out a distinct sonic identity.
Japan’s own thriving scene is strongly represented. YAMA, known for appearances at fabric in London and Wonderfruit Festival in Thailand, makes a long-awaited rural debut, carrying the torch for the Kansai region. He’s joined by YAMARCHY, a key figure in the new wave of psychedelic house, SAMO, resident at FULLHOUSE, and LEVOLANT, whose sound bridges Japan with neighboring Asian scenes.
Sound & Production
Sound remains central to the rural experience. In 2026, Void Acoustics will once again power the outdoor stage, while Danley Sound Labs takes charge indoors. Backed by a trusted, long-standing technical team, the festival promises a deeply immersive environment designed to be felt as much as heard.

Venue & Experience
Set at the foot of Mount Adatara in the lush Tohoku region, the Numajiri Highlands offer a landscape of forests, lakes, and celebrated hot springs. At nearby Numajiri Kogen Lodge, festivalgoers can soak in natural onsen baths, with seamless movement between campsite and dance floor allowing for total immersion in both music and nature.
Inside the grounds, a curated mix of food vendors will be joined by local sake and craft beer. Unique programs are also planned, including the “Extreme Onsen Tour,” where local guides lead participants to hidden regional hot springs for rare, off-the-grid experiences.
For 2026, rural introduces expanded extended-stay options, giving guests the chance to remain on-site for up to five days. Extended-stay tickets are already available, offering a slower, deeper connection to the land and community that forms around the festival.
Camping remains at the heart of the experience, with rental tents and auto-camping options available for added comfort. Camp tickets are free for attendees under 25, and partner accommodation packages near the venue are also on sale. Shuttle buses will run throughout the event to connect lodging areas with the festival site.
Access
The venue is reachable in approximately 3.5 hours by car from central Tokyo, or around 4 hours via the official tour bus departing from Shibuya.
Far from the city’s pace, rural 2026 invites dancers to reconnect with sound, landscape, and community. For four days each summer, a singular dance floor emerges in the Numajiri Highlands—and it’s ready to welcome those seeking something truly outside the ordinary.
