Today, Grammy-winning live electronic trio RÜFÜS DU SOL have made a triumphant return with their eagerly awaited new single, “Music is Better,” released via Rose Avenue/Warner Records. Listen HERE.
The trio first introduced the track during their headline DJ set at Coachella earlier this year. This marks RÜFÜS DU SOL's first new release since their 2021 Grammy-nominated album, Surrender. The single embodies the themes of hope, intimacy, and connection that are hallmarks of the RÜFÜS universe while exploring a more expansive and ambitious soundscape.
“Music is Better” signals a fresh creative phase for the band, characterized by a focus on the present moment and a joy in the artistic process. This new track continues their tradition of blending organic and electronic elements, adding to a repertoire that has soundtracked pivotal moments for a generation of music enthusiasts—moments of heartbreak, romance, euphoria, and despair.
Since the release of Surrender, RÜFÜS DU SOL have achieved notable success, including a Grammy win for Best Dance/Electronic Recording in 2022 for their lead single “Alive.” They also received two nominations the following year for Best Dance/Electronic Album and secured their fifth ARIA award in Australia. The band has performed at festivals across Europe and South America and graced the stages of iconic North American venues like New York's Forest Hills Stadium, Denver's Red Rocks Amphitheatre, and Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl. Additionally, they launched their boutique Sundream Festival, which had its second edition in San José del Cabo in 2023.
This year, band members Jon George and James Hunt have thrilled fans with DJ sets at Coachella and a surprise appearance at Lightning in a Bottle. “Music is Better” debuts ahead of RÜFÜS DU SOL's only live performance this year, headlining Portola Festival in San Francisco on September 28.
