Miami-born audio-visual artist, singer, and rapper ROZET has released their latest single, “Shadow Wurk,” via Young Art Records. This track serves as the fourth and final single from the upcoming EP HEAD, following the previously released tracks “Eat,” “Thinking A Lot,” and “Feelings Aren’t Facts.”
Drawing from their experiences as a ballroom enthusiast and LGBTQ community member, “Shadow Wurk” delivers a bold and empowering message. The track combines sassy, assertive vocals with rhythmic flows, shimmering synths, and light house percussion, creating an electrifying atmosphere. Lyrically and sonically, the single reflects ROZET’s therapeutic journey of confronting suppressed emotions while embracing self-confidence and defiance against societal norms.
ROZET describes the song as an “activation of an unapologetic phase of facing the subconscious head-on,” with the track exploring the interplay between self-reflection and challenging emotions. This process is symbolized as a ballroom dance battle within the mind, representing integration and personal growth.
Accompanying “Shadow Wurk” is a visualizer directed and choreographed by ROZET, featuring abstract imagery that portrays the overwhelming yet transformative process of shadow work. The visualizer emphasizes themes of reparenting and healing, with striking depictions of the relationship between the inner child and the older self.
The forthcoming EP HEAD, arriving February 14, features nine tracks that intertwine ROZET’s studies in psychology, Buddhism, and mental health treatment with their artistic training as a dancer and musician. With a unique fusion of sound, mind, and body, the EP promises to solidify ROZET as one of the most exciting emerging artists of the year.
