Canadian producer and DJ Rezz has unveiled her latest collaborative single “Downward” with Swedish musician and visual artist Owl Vision, out now via HypnoVizion. The track arrives as the final preview of Rezz’s highly anticipated fifth studio album As The Pendulum Swings, set for release on September 12.
“Downward” unlocks a fresh dimension within As The Pendulum Swings, layering the album’s industrial undertones with a nostalgic, video game-inspired edge. Built around entrancing 8-bit-style melodies and crunchy basslines, the single fuses Rezz’s signature hypnotic midtempo energy with Owl Vision’s gritty and distinctive sound design. An accompanying fully animated 8-bit music video expands the album’s visual world, immersing listeners in a retro-inspired gaming universe.
“I went on a deep dive on some of my favorite underground midtempo and industrial producers, and I re-discovered Owl Vision,” shares Rezz. “He sent me a demo, and I finished it within a day or two. It was super fun and I’m stoked for everyone to see the video we got made for it.”
“We had talked about working together a few years back, so I’m really glad we reconnected,” adds Owl Vision. “It literally only took a few days before we had a finished song. I think fans will hear both of our styles shining through on this one. I’m also super stoked to share the visuals!”
“Downward” follows previously released singles ‘Glass Veins’, ‘Prophecy’, ‘Contorted’ and ‘Telepathy’, completing the rollout for As The Pendulum Swings. The album will land just in time for Rezz’s next PORTAL tour stop at the Tacoma Dome on September 26, where she will make history as the first female electronic DJ to headline the iconic venue.
Based in Gothenburg, Owl Vision is known for pioneering the “Death Electro” sound, blending industrial, electro, and cinematic textures. Since 2007, he has released music through his own Comorbid Records and renowned labels including Universal, Parlophone, and Dim Mak. His tracks have appeared in commercials for Audi, Infinity, and Warner Games, as well as hit TV shows like Top Gear and Skins. “Downward” marks his debut release on HypnoVizion.
