Republic Records and GRAMMY®-nominated songwriter and producer Freddy Wexler have officially signed JYT (Just Your Type), a high-energy new boyband ready to reintroduce dance-driven pop to a global audience. Comprised of 15- to 17-year-olds Caden, Tyler, Bryan, Recker, and Toby, the group combines elite choreography, standout vocals, and an undeniable camaraderie, already amassing over 500K social media followers before releasing their first single.
“We grew up in studios, so performing’s in our DNA,” the band shares.
Created in partnership with Wexler, JYT was formed through an unconventional process in which the members personally selected each other, fostering natural chemistry, complementary personalities, and a shared commitment to performance at the highest level.
“From the moment these five kids stood in a room together, I knew we had something special. JYT isn’t a manufactured boyband, they chose each other,” says Wexler. “I’m thrilled to be partnering with Monte and the incredible team at Republic, with whom I’ve shared some of the most pivotal moments of my career. America hasn’t launched a global boy band in decades, and these kids are about to change that.”
Monte Lipman, Founder and Chairman of Republic, adds: “My first interaction with Freddy was nearly 20 years ago when I tried unsuccessfully two separate times to sign him to a record deal. Two decades later, I’m proud to call Freddy an extraordinary partner as producer, label head, and creative force; as we launch an explosive new band together via his label Wexler Records / Republic Records. In the spirit of never say never, we finally found a way to be in the Freddy Wexler business after all these years.”
Over the past year, the members of JYT have undergone intensive development in Los Angeles, training with world-class choreographers led by Nick DeMoura (Justin Bieber), who also choreographed their first visual project.
“We went from five kids to brothers fast, and this bootcamp’s been insane, but we love it. We just want to put on a show no one forgets,” the group explains.
“When I first saw JYT dance, I felt the same fire that made NSYNC a movement, not just a band,” says DeMoura. “These kids train like athletes, perform like veterans, and have the potential to be this generation’s defining boy band…which is exactly why I wanted to be part of this.”
JYT’s debut single, “What U Want,” released today, showcases their signature style: future-leaning pop that nods to 2000s influences without losing its modern edge. The track is designed to complement the group’s dynamic dance performance, leaving space for movement, accents, and rhythmic interplay.
A multi-part docuseries chronicling JYT’s formation and rise is currently in production. With a combination of talent, training, and vision, JYT is positioned to become the next defining American boyband for this generation.
