Red Axes Announce New Album LOUD with Bold New Single “Girl”

From serial hitmakers to boundary-defying performers, Red Axes continue to refuse categorisation. This Friday, the duo announced their forthcoming album LOUD, due for release on November 21, unveiling yet another facet of their evolving sound — a fearless fusion of punk, indie, and rock that builds on their legacy as underground icons. Alongside the announcement, they released their powerful new single “Girl”, accompanied by a cinematic music video.

Drawing inspiration from legends like The Velvet Underground, War on Drugs, and The Doors, “Girl” marks a bold sonic departure. Sitting somewhere between indie soul and soft alternative rock, the track is simple, honest, and rich with raw emotion — reminiscent of The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

Thematically, “Girl” explores the desire for inner change and emotional growth. Niv Azri explains: “I wrote it during a time when I was facing some pain and trying not to escape it, just sit with it and let it teach me something. It’s not about big spiritual ideas, just being real with what’s there. This one came out like a letter. Words that had to be said. It’s not about clarity — it’s about pressure. The city, the silence, the smell of something familiar. ‘Girl’ doesn’t try to solve anything, it just floats there, half-closed eyes and open heart.”

Formed by childhood friends Niv Arzi and Dori Sadovnik, Red Axes have spent 15 years carving one of the most distinctive paths in modern electronic music. From underground warehouse parties to iconic stages such as Coachella, Glastonbury, Sónar, Primavera, Burning Man, Berghain, and DC-10, they have built a genre-defying legacy rooted in spontaneity, experimentation, and deep connection.

Their journey began as the psychedelic rock band Red Cotton, before a transformative period in Amsterdam birthed Red Axes. Since 2010, they have released an expansive catalog spanning dozens of EPs, hundreds of remixes, and collaborations on labels including Phantasy, Life & Death, !K7, Correspondant, Shall Not Fade, and Crosstown Rebels.

Across four previous albums — Ballad of the Ice (2014), The Beach Goths (2017), Red Axes (2020), and One More City (2023) — they explored the full spectrum of indie-dance, house, techno, new wave, and post-punk. LOUD marks a new chapter, bringing them full circle to the raw power of guitars and drums, filtered through a decade immersed in global club culture.

Each track on LOUD embraces a distinct sonic world, earning comparisons to Franz Ferdinand, Queens of the Stone Age, MGMT, Tears for Fears, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. From the surf-rock drive of “Church Ave” to the pounding chaos of “Lava Lava”, Red Axes prove they never settle — making LOUD their most diverse project yet.

With LOUD, Red Axes aren’t reinventing themselves. They’re reminding the world why the most exciting artists never stop moving.
