Robot Koch, the prolific producer, has unveiled a remix of EMMI IIDA‘s single, ‘Blooming’, released on August 2nd via EFG Records. The remix has garnered support from the renowned tastemaker House Music With Love. The original track, written by EMMI IIDA and co-written and produced by Jessica Sharman, provides a compelling foundation for Koch’s unique reinterpretation.
Berlin-born and Los Angeles-based, Robot Koch is a Platinum and Gold accredited producer known for his official remixes for notable artists like Max Richter, Rammstein, Christian Löffler, and Adriatique. His collaborations include working with conductor and Grammy Award Nominee Kristjan Järvi and the Nordic Pulse Orchestra. Koch has performed at prestigious festivals such as Coachella, Mutek, Sonar, Boiler Room, Melt, and Splash, supporting acts like Moderat and Madlib. His accolades include the German Music Composers Award for ‘Best Composer in Electronic Music‘ and several awards for “Best Immersive Experience” for his acclaimed Full Dome show titled Sphere.
Robot Koch’s work has been supported by major YouTube channels such as Mr. Suicide Sheep and Ambient, and has received radio play from BBC Radio 1‘s John Peel, Friction, and B. Traits, as well as Worldwide FM and KEXP. The official remix of his track ‘Reach (ft. Delhia De France)’ by Chi Tanh was featured on Ben Böhmer‘s Radio 1 Essential Mix.
EMMI IIDA is a Finnish visual artist, holistic interior architect, and musician currently based in the countryside of Southern Finland. The multi-faceted artist has hosted solo art exhibitions globally, from Barcelona to Los Angeles. Translating her artistic skills into music, she founded EFG Productions and EFG Records, focusing on holistic well-being with healing frequencies. Her debut album, The Eye, released in early 2024, received support from distinguished publications and radio stations such as Wonderland Magazine, Notion Magazine, METAL Magazine, CLASH Magazine, NOCTIS Mag, Earmilk, BBC 6’s Craig Charles, RTÉ 2FM, and Triple J, and secured her an interview with MTV Finland.
‘Blooming’ starts as an atmospheric, ambient track with EMMI IIDA offering spoken word vocals, guiding listeners on a meditative journey before transitioning into her angelic singing over an unusual driving beat. The song speaks of following one’s inner vision and intuition. Robot Koch retains EMMI’s vocal line, enhancing it with subtle trippy effects and filters over a mesmerizing synth instrumental enriched with EMMI’s vocal samples. His reimagining of the track is ethereal and soothing, highlighting his production prowess.
Robot Koch shared, “I enjoyed making this remix for Emmi. I only used the vocals from the original track; I felt like they needed a lot of space around them. So I went for an introspective, atmospheric, and stripped-down composition, based on the feeling the words evoked in me.”
