Australian-born, Canada-based producer and DJ Pretence ignites the dance floor with his high-octane new single ‘Dragon’, out now via HypnoVizion.
Already praised by industry heavyweights including Sara Landry and I Hate Models, ‘Dragon’ arrives as one of Pretence’s most eagerly awaited IDs. Blending 140 BPM techno with psy-trance intensity, the track delivers a relentless sonic barrage of razor-sharp synths and thunderous basslines. With its fierce energy and hypnotic rhythm, ‘Dragon’ roars with fiery momentum—equal parts raw aggression and precision-crafted groove.
Reflecting on the track’s journey, Pretence shared: “Right before I took the leap and left Australia, I filmed a DJ set called Pretence Presents: Exile as a way to give Canada a preview of what to expect when they see me live. In the set, I played an unreleased track that led to Rezz, the very artist who inspired me to start making music, following me on Instagram. I sent Rezz some demos and ‘Dragon’ was signed to one of my dream labels, HypnoVizion.”
Emerging from Sydney’s underground rave scene, 27-year-old Pretence has been making waves with his dark, driving sound. Now based in Canada, he has released on respected imprints including Moretin and Omens Records, and collaborated with artists like CABLE and FETISH. His hard-hitting productions have already earned support from names such as Nitti, Wax Motif, Dr. Fresch, Matroda, and AC Slater, positioning him as one of the most exciting new forces in electronic music.
‘Dragon’ is available now on all streaming platforms.
