In 2023, Poolside, the creative project of Jeffrey Paradise, released his fourth studio album, Blame It All On Love, recorded in the serene isolation of the Malibu Hills. However, as 2025 unfolds, tragedy has struck—Paradise lost his hilltop home and all his belongings to the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.
Marking his first release since the disaster, Poolside joins forces with German producer Satin Jackets for “Pull Together”, out today, March 27, via Ninja Tune’s Counter Records.
Despite the heartbreak, Poolside’s signature sun-soaked, daytime disco vibes shine through in “Pull Together”. Built on danceable, finger-snapping beats and smooth, groove-laden basslines, the track carries a message of unity and resilience.
Lyrics that capture the spirit of rebuilding:
Wishing like these dreams would last forever
Way up in the hills, we found our treasure
Holding tight to keep it all together
We’ll pull together—put back together
Reflecting on the tragedy and his creative response, Jeffrey Paradise shares:
“Tragedy and art have always been old friends. I understood that before, but now—I live it. Losing a home changes you, but it also opens a door to create something from the ruins. What started as loss became a cycle—pain feeding art, art feeding healing. And now, the beginning of the new beginning—for me, and for Poolside.”
The Los Angeles Times detailed Paradise’s devastating loss, highlighting that his Malibu home—a historic 1970s retreat once frequented by The Grateful Dead and built from salvaged wood from the Venice Beach pier—was completely destroyed. Surrounded by a neighborhood that once included Bob Dylan, Anthony Kiedis, Gene Simmons, and Seal, Paradise described the aftermath as a “war zone… an acid-trip nightmare hellscape”.
As Poolside searches for a new home and prepares for his next album, he has hit the road for the Poolside & Friends: DISCO NEVER DIES – LA Wildfire Benefit Tour, raising funds and awareness for those affected by the wildfires. Stops include Kauai, Honolulu, Austin, Dallas, Sacramento, and Chicago, with more dates to be announced soon.
With “Pull Together”, Poolside not only delivers a heartfelt new single but also sets the stage for a powerful new chapter—one that turns loss into creation and devastation into renewal.
