Peekaboo Defies The Impossible | EP Review

by The Freaks - Staff

After a kick-ass year Peekaboo returns with his second massive project of 2019 on Deadbeats Records, his “Impossible EP”. Known for his Bass music that challenges the boundaries of genre, the body of work cross-pollinates and blends various sounds like we’ve never heard before. Impossible’s artwork is reminiscent of M.C Escher’s “Relativity” and exemplifies the style run-around the EP brings. The project comes on the heels of announcing his first headlining tour that starts next year, The Impossible Tour.

Each song’s title is an appropriate personification of what they have to offer. The first track that the project is titled after takes you on a brutal, bass-fueled build up that drops into a gritty spiral of wubs. The next song “Nut Case” is even more dizzying than the first. Much like the last track on the EP “Smack”, “Nut Case” is driven by Trap banger styled samples and Hip-Hop flavored drums paired with a wonky bass-line. Simply put, both tracks smack. As if to leave no genre unnoticed, “Rock The House” features an unparalleled fusion. Combining the likes of Breaks, Bass, and House the track is sure to rock a few houses on The Impossible Tour.

Peekaboo’s artistry grows with every release and “Impossible” is next level. His ability to create unheard-of hybrids effortlessly will continue to set him apart as we move into the new year. The Impossible Tour is sure to feature these heaters and all of your other Peekaboo favorites. With boundless creativity and a work ethic like his, we may even be blessed with more IDs. If one thing is certain it’s that we’ll be there to find out. Will you?
