Oppidan Unleashes ‘WAKE AND BREAK’ on October 11th

by Press Release

Oppidan, one of the most exciting rising stars in dance music, is set to release her latest single, ‘WAKE AND BREAK’, on October 11th via Promised Land Records. Known for her much-loved UKG sound on hits like ‘Mr. Sandman’ (3M streams) and ‘Armed & Dangerous’ (1M streams), the Bristol-based producer takes a deep dive into rave territory with her new track.

On ‘WAKE AND BREAK’, Oppidan blends a looped vocal, hard-hitting drum breaks, vocal shots, and atmospheric strings with a subtle melody to create a dancefloor-ready weapon. The single is a refreshing departure from her previous work, reflecting her ability to seamlessly evolve while staying true to her bass-heavy roots.

2024 has seen a slew of well-received releases from Oppidan, including her speed garage remix of Diffrent’s hit ‘A Little Closer’, which made waves at Creamfields in front of 25,000 ravers. Other recent hits include the melody-driven single ‘WHERE’S MY VAPE?’ and her collaboration with Boy Better Know member Frisco on ‘FRESH AND NEW’.

Rising from the underground rave scene in the UK, Oppidan has quickly established herself as a force in the evolving UKG and bass music world. Her choppy edit of The Chordettes’ classic ‘Mr. Sandman’ generated major buzz, earning support at Glastonbury and Boomtown. The track has amassed over 3 million streams and solidified her presence on the scene.

Nominated for DJ Mag’s Breakthrough Producer award in 2023, Oppidan has worked with heavyweights like Sammy Virji, Hans Glader, and Dread MC, and received airplay on platforms like Radio 1, Kiss FM, Rinse, and internationally on Triple J and George FM.

Having performed at major festivals like Outlook and Creamfields, as well as iconic venues like Amnesia in Ibiza, Oppidan is riding high on her rapid ascent. October sees her make her debut in Japan, performing in Osaka and Tokyo, before returning to the UK in November to play at Four Tet’s Curates night at Drumsheds, alongside names like Caribou and Logic1000.

With ‘WAKE AND BREAK’, Oppidan proves that she’s a versatile and dynamic producer, capable of crafting groundbreaking tracks that captivate both the underground and mainstream scenes.
