NYC is a top prospect when it comes to late-night partying and doesn’t have such a strict curfew like some other cities. There are so many clubs and events happening on any given night, that it’s practically impossible to know about every party taking place. Not every outing has to be at a massive venue, uncomfortably packed with people either. Some people want to dance without feeling claustrophobic and long for something more chill. If you are one of these people, NYCR has you covered which is why I’m showing them some Local Love!
NYC Ravers is an Electronic Dance Music event production company, involved with most local events in the underground scene and has been expanding gradually since 2007. They are most known for their creatively themed parties and involvement with the promotion of local events. Some of their past themes have been Super Smashed Bros, Mindcraft, and Vinyl Fantasy. NYCR’s most recent event was Get Squanchy 3, a Rick and Morty themed party that took place in mid-town Manhattan. This featured video games along with other fun activities to do throughout multi-level venue Habanero Blues. Among the headliners included DJ Venom (Hardcore) and Empress (Drum ‘n’ Bass) who both destroyed as usual. Both headliners are a great reflection of the genres that are most focused on at NYCR’s parties. Hardcore and Drum ‘n’ Bass both appear to be dying genres in the US mainstream EDM scene. I will say that it was pleasant to dance freely without constantly bumping into people and not having fruity cocktails staining my shirt for a change.
Overall, there is a friendlier vibe at these smaller events compared to your typical EDM shows. If you’re interested in seeing what NYCR is about, you can stay updated on their upcoming events by following their Facebook page. If you’ve only experienced more popular events, the underground is definitely worth a look.
