Philadelphia shoegaze outfit NOTHING return with their latest single and video, never come never morning,” the newest preview of their forthcoming fifth studio album A Short History of Decay, due February 27th via Run For Cover.

The track leans into a grinding, industrial-tinged intensity, sitting closer to genre touchstones like My Bloody Valentine, while contrasting the Madchester-influenced pulse of “Cannibal World” and the stripped-down acoustic textures of “Purple Strings.” Alongside earlier singles “Toothless Coal,” “Cannibal World,” and “Purple Strings,” it highlights the band’s restless experimentation and refusal to be boxed into one sonic lane.

Set for release February 27th, A Short History of Decay is described as NOTHING’s most sonically expansive and emotionally direct work to date—a widescreen meditation on time, truth, aging, and the body’s gradual unraveling.

The album arrives with a revitalized lineup: guitarist Doyle Martin (Cloakroom), bassist Bobb Bruno (Best Coast), drummer Zachary Jones (MSC, Manslaughter 777), and guitarist Cam Smith (Ladder To God, Cloakroom), alongside frontman Domenic “Nicky” Palermo, who delivers some of his most candid and unflinching songwriting yet.

Following two February shows in Tokyo with Whirr, NOTHING will embark on an extensive North American headline tour before heading to the UK. Support across North American dates comes from Full Body 2, Cryogeyser, and Violent Magic Orchestra.

The run will culminate in the band’s own festival, Slide Away, held across multiple dates this May in New York City, Chicago, and Los Angeles. Featuring appearances from bands including Hum, Chapterhouse, Swirlies, and more, the festival will also celebrate the 10th anniversary of NOTHING’s seminal album Tired of Tomorrow, with special guest lineups unique to each city.

With A Short History of Decay, NOTHING continue to evolve their dense, emotionally charged sound—balancing heaviness and vulnerability while pushing the boundaries of modern shoegaze.
