Celebrating its ten year anniversary in 2019, North Coast Music Festival is getting an upgrade August 30th and 31st. With a scenic new venue at Northerly Island and a compelling lineup, this two-day Chicago festival is treating the city to a whole new vibe. Massive artists like Bassnectar, Flux Pavillion, Major Lazer, and Jauz will be headlining the weekend, but the local talent is where North Coast really delivers. I’ve narrowed it down to five can’t miss local artists who show us why the Chicago music scene is where it’s at. Meet the NCMF hometown heroes!
INZO started playing classical piano at the age of four and has since turned his love of music to producing EDM across an array of genres. His most played track on Spotify, “Overthinker”, has over 3 million plays and counting. Though INZO doesn’t stick to one genre, his Future Bass tracks are where he shines the brightest, bringing about a deeply emotional reaction for the listener.
This one is for the headbangers. Dubstep duo ELEVATD gives a truly wild performance complete with heaviest of drops and killer on-stage energy to boot. They love to bust out IDs in their sets so we can bet on hearing some original unreleased tracks just for us!
Former instrumentalist and self-described “HyperBass” artist Stratus has collabed with the likes DNMO and KJ Sawka as well as released on Ganja White Night’s label SubCarbon. He combines all styles of Bass in his sets for a versatile showcase of his personal range. If you enjoy hearing the full spectrum of Bass music in one set, Stratus will not disappoint.
If you’ve been around the Chicago warehouse scene, you’ve probably found yourself at a GoodSex set. Their tracks range from fun-loving and funky to blood-pumping, nasty Trap beats. This Chicago duo bends genres to create an all original experience that makes them a true Chicago treasure. There’s a little GoodSex for everyone.
5. Birthdayy Partyy
Blowing up since 2018 because of their hard-hitting originals and nostalgic remixes, Birthdayy Partyy is a redefining the Bass House genre. With support from massive artists like Jauz, NGHTMRE, and Adventure Club, this fraternal twin brother duo have grown past the confines of their hometown of the Windy City. Birthdayy Partyy brings the high energy beats of House music and the heavy booms and drops of Bass and Trap that makes you move, bounce, shake, and dance like it’s your Birthdayy Partyy.
The Chicago artists are the real hidden gems in the North Coast lineup. With so many styles of Electronic Dance Music, you’re bound to find at least one local artist that rings your bells.
