At just 21 years old, NOEL displays a maturity beyond his years, acknowledging his role in a relationship that crumbled, admitting that while the love was there, he wasn’t ready for it—”I wanted you to love me, I wanted you to feel it all… But my heart wasn’t ready for it, and that’s not your fault.” The indie-pop song swells with emotion, culminating in a cathartic chorus that feels like a release of the world’s burdens, thanks to NOEL’s poignant songwriting.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the song, NOEL shared: “‘Flowers at a Funeral’ is a really raw and honest song about a relationship that deserved a better ending. On paper, everything seemed perfect, and in my head, it felt right. But I couldn’t get my heart to follow suit, and that brought a lot of guilt. It felt unfair to the other person, who truly deserved better. The title captures how easy it is to overlook the beauty of a moment when it’s clouded by sadness or struggle.”
Before captivating millions on TikTok with his soulful bedroom covers, NOEL’s early life was defined by his passion for football. However, a knee injury at 17 forced him to redirect his energy into music. What began with casual singing in the shower and learning piano evolved into a full-time pursuit of music. His rise in the industry began unexpectedly when his TikTok covers caught the attention of professionals, and he has since collaborated with established songwriters and producers.
