Armenian-American producer and DJ Niko Boggs marks a bold return to Dirtybird with his latest solo release, “The Pressure,” out now in celebration of the label’s 20th anniversary.
Simmering with raw club energy and underground aesthetics, “The Pressure” plunges listeners into a hypnotic groove built for Dirtybird’s after-hours crowd. Influenced by ’80s breakbeat, the track layers acidic basslines, rolling analog drums, and modular synth textures with glitchy vocal loops for a four-minute ride that’s both cerebral and dancefloor-ready. The track captures the experimental, genre-bending ethos that’s defined Dirtybird since its inception.
“‘The Pressure’ came about when I was experimenting with some vocals. The vocal chops formed the loop, then I added a bassline and glitchy synth tones from my modular synth. Finally, I wanted the drums to have an organic and analog ’80s vibe to create a balance between the clubby, electronic side and a more retro, punk feel,” shares Niko Boggs.
Based in Los Angeles, Boggs made his Dirtybird debut in 2022 with “Modular Funk,” a standout cut that introduced his left-of-center approach to club music. He later collaborated with fellow Birdfeed artist Rodney Dinkles on the Orca EP, further cementing his place in the label’s evolving roster. Now, with “The Pressure,” he continues his sonic evolution—leaning deeper into offbeat, modular-driven soundscapes while maintaining dancefloor accessibility.
