GRAMMY-winning and Ivor Novello-nominated electronic trio NERO have finally dropped their highly anticipated third studio album, Into The Unknown, marking their first release in nine years. The album follows 2015’s Between II Worlds and arrives after building momentum with singles like ‘Truth’, ‘Blame You’, ‘Draw Energy’, ‘Too Many Questions’, and ‘Solar’.
Into The Unknown tells a post-apocalyptic story that explores humanity’s complex and conflicting future—where science, fantasy, beauty, and brutality collide. It’s a continuation of the themes NERO explored in their previous albums, reflecting on global disconnection, the rise of technology, and the need for societal rebirth to advance humankind.
Known for their genre-defying sound, NERO blends dance music influences from various eras. Into The Unknown pays homage to the UK garage, jungle, and drum & bass of the 90s and early 2000s that shaped their early career, while also revisiting the dubstep and dance-pop sounds that skyrocketed them to mainstream fame in the 2010s. The album feels like a sonic journey through NERO’s evolution, from the underground streets of London to the futuristic soundscapes they continue to explore today. Tracks like ‘Blame You’ and ‘Too Many Questions’ ground the album in their roots, while songs like ‘Truth’ and the reworked version of their 2022 collaboration with RL Grime, ‘Renegade’, push into new territory.
Describing the album, NERO stated:
*”Into The Unknown, to us, feels somewhat like a bridge between *Welcome Reality* and Between II Worlds. A blend of U.K. dance music and French electro/house. This is where we’ve always felt that we reside, stylistically. We wanted to make sure the album sounded quintessentially NERO, and hopefully, our fans will feel we succeeded in that.”*
Into The Unknown serves as the final chapter in NERO’s cinematic, three-part audio-visual trilogy, crafted over their 20-year career. Starting with 2011’s groundbreaking Welcome Reality, followed by Between II Worlds, and now concluded with Into The Unknown, this trilogy showcases the band’s pioneering vision and ability to craft immersive sonic landscapes.
Fans can stream NERO’s new album Into The Unknown, available now on all platforms, ahead of their Into The Unknown Tour—a headlining event that promises to bring the trio’s epic journey to life on stage.
