Czech-born producer Nejvex and Australian singer-songwriter KIDMAN join forces on “Heartless”, a melodic bass-driven electro-pop single arriving February 27 via SLANDER’s Heaven Sent. Leading their upcoming collaborative EP, the track unites two emerging artists at the intersection of emotionally charged songwriting and forward-thinking bass production.
The collaboration began at ICON Collective in Los Angeles, where Nejvex and KIDMAN connected after relocating to pursue music full-time. Despite coming from opposite ends of the genre spectrum, they found common ground in pop-forward EDM—a balance that defines “Heartless.”
The song explores the fallout of a post-breakup perspective, tracing the shift from idealized love to toxic tension. KIDMAN’s emotionally raw vocal delivery, marked by subtle rap inflections, paints vivid portraits of a fractured relationship, grounding the track in confessional honesty.
Nejvex mirrors that emotional push-and-pull in the production. Wistful piano chords and cinematic alt-rock builds give way to a melodic trap drop with swinging horn leads, glitch-infused sub-bass, and punchy color bass fills. The drop alternates between luminous melody and heavier low-end passages, capturing the turbulence of an unhealthy relationship while maintaining a club-ready energy.
On the collaboration, Nejvex explains:
“It came together naturally. I’ve always leaned heavier in electronic music, while KIDMAN gravitates toward pop. ‘Heartless’ bridges both worlds, fusing bass-driven intensity with pop sensibility in a unique way.”
KIDMAN adds insight into the track’s creation:
“The topline started as a last-minute homework assignment. Milo [Nejvex] took it and in a few hours had a drop and rough arrangement ready. By the time I returned from the hot tub, it already sounded insane.”
For Nejvex, “Heartless” continues his rise in the global bass scene. The LA-based producer—originally from a small Czech village—has earned support from Chime, Ace Aura, Virtual Riot, Au5, and Skybreak, alongside BBC Radio 1’s Charlie Tee, Franky Nuts, and Monstercat. Following his 2024 two-track release, ‘I Want Your Love / Hyperion,’ Nejvex recently returned to Heaven Sent with a remix of SLANDER & San Holo’s “Broken Hearted.”
At just 21, KIDMAN has built a reputation for translating personal experience into emotionally resonant, hook-driven music. His sound blends hip-hop, pop, rock, and R&B, emphasizing vulnerability and melodic instinct.
