MXGPU, the boundary-pushing live electronic duo formed by Portuguese producers Moullinex and GPU Panic, return with their latest single “take me home,” out today via their own label Discotexas. The track offers a stunning first look at their debut album Sudden Light, set for release on September 26.
A sweeping blend of synthwave and cinematic electronica, “take me home” channels a yearning for connection and self-discovery. Born spontaneously in the studio, the track quickly evolved into a central pillar of MXGPU’s electrifying live shows. With a cathartic drop, emotional vocals, and lush production, it’s already become a fan-favorite—an anthem of belonging designed for the dancefloor.
“‘take me home’ was born in just a couple of hours,” the duo shares. “From the moment we began playing it live, we knew it was a golden gem. The response from the crowd was immediate and overwhelming. Everyone kept asking when it was coming out—it felt like the soundtrack to people’s lives. That’s when we knew we had something special.”
Known for their immersive, 360° performances, MXGPU fuse club music, sci-fi aesthetics, and performance art into a singular live experience. Their visual identity and sonic explorations are deeply inspired by artists like Suzanne Ciani, James Turrell, and even nostalgic SEGA loading screens, making each performance a visceral journey through human emotion and digital abstraction.
With “take me home”, the duo further refines their distinctive voice—music rooted in emotional resonance, technological wonder, and a deep sense of community.
As they gear up for the release of Sudden Light, MXGPU are also embarking on an ambitious 2025 tour. This summer sees them lighting up festivals and clubs across Portugal, with stops in Lisbon, Porto, and Guimarães. For the first time, the duo will bring their groundbreaking live set to the United States, with shows confirmed in Brooklyn and Los Angeles this October.
MXGPU is the creative union of Luís Clara Gomes (aka Moullinex) and Guilherme Tomé Ribeiro (aka GPU Panic), long-time collaborators and pillars of Portugal’s thriving electronic music scene. After co-writing “Painting By Numbers” on Moullinex’s acclaimed Hypersex album in 2017, the pair began releasing under the MXGPU moniker—earning support from respected labels like Crosstown Rebels, Watergate, and TAU, and remixes from luminaries such as Patrice Bäumel, Xinobi, and Sebastien Léger. Their music has garnered praise from global tastemakers including &ME, Adriatique, and RÜFÜS DU SOL.
With Sudden Light, MXGPU position themselves at the forefront of a new movement—where electronic music becomes a vehicle for vulnerability, imagination, and collective release.
“take me home” is available now on all streaming platforms. Sudden Light arrives September 26 via Discotexas.
