Lisbon-based duo MXGPU, the collaborative project of electronic innovator Moullinex and singer/producer GPU Panic, release their highly anticipated debut album SUDDEN LIGHT today via Discotexas. The album is a bold declaration of identity, capturing the pair’s shared vision for immersive, emotional, and genre-defying electronic music.

Anchored by the soaring lead single “into flames”, SUDDEN LIGHT journeys through intimate ballads, cinematic synthscapes, and euphoric dancefloor anthems. Built on heartfelt vocals and lush analog textures, “into flames” embodies the project’s essence: finding beauty in vulnerability and transcendence through connection.

MXGPU share: “‘Into flames’ was the last track we finished for the album. It took a lot of back and forth, many different shapes and sizes until we landed on this version. Maybe because of this, its sonics are the ones we connect to the most in SUDDEN LIGHT. Thematically, it’s about falling madly in love with someone and not being able to contain these feelings inside ourselves any longer.”

The album traverses diverse sonic landscapes: fan-favorite “take me home” blends synthwave with electronica to create a cathartic anthem that has become a live staple; “find u” dives into liquid drum & bass with an experimental edge; while “slow down” captures introspection with whispered vocals and hypnotic rhythm. New standouts include the euphoric “ease” (featuring Malou), the driving pulse of “the fall”, the nocturnal tension of “shout in the dark”, and the reflective closing track “symptom of u”. Together, these pieces crystallize MXGPU’s mission to transcend genre while remaining rooted in emotional honesty.

MXGPU describe SUDDEN LIGHT as: “An interruption. A shout in the dark. A spark of transformation. A sudden rush of clarity. Our coming together as Moullinex and GPU Panic, and a step towards MXGPU.”

The release follows an immersive SUDDEN LIGHT launch event in Lisbon, where the duo presented the album in their signature 360° live format. The performance placed the audience at the center of an audiovisual experience, featuring sci-fi visuals, James Turrell-inspired lighting, and walls of sound shaped by gear from Moog, Arturia, Teenage Engineering, and Dreadbox—a true embodiment of their artistic vision to dissolve the boundary between performer and audience.

This October, MXGPU bring their world across the Atlantic for their U.S. live debut, headlining shows at Silo (Brooklyn, October 2) and The Roxy Theatre (Los Angeles, October 4). Additional European and international dates will follow, marking the beginning of an expansive new chapter for the duo.
