Hello, this is RiMo from Fresh Music Freaks. I’m here with one of EDM’s most talented music producers, Paul Arcane. How are you today?

Paul Arcane: Hey! I’m fine, just recovering from a cold and ready to start working on new music again,

Seems like everyone is talking about you and your amazing work (20 songs) and numerous guest mixes, label signing and tons of loyal fans who share a passion for your music. 2018 was clearly a great year for you. How has your career changed in 2019?

Thank you, yeah it’s been quite a journey! 2018 was amazing, especially because I had an opportunity to guest mix Above & Beyond’s Group Therapy Radio show. This year’s been great too, I joined a new management ‘Crush3d Artist Agency’, signed to Armada, won a remix competition, and I was part of Armin‘s yearly Ibiza compilation, which is absolutely amazing.

You have so many great instrumental tracks and they’re your signature, for a while now. My favorite dub mix of yours is “Gamma” which is amazing! Your instrumental tracks are euphoric, have amazing positive energy and evoke emotion. What was your inspiration for writing such beautiful instrumentals?

My goal is to make memorable emotional music. I always push myself to make something unique every time, but with my signature sound. For ‘Gamma’ I remember hearing these chords in my head (the ones you hear in the breakdown), I didn’t know they’d work at first, but I kept working on them and then added some drums and voila!

But you’re not solely an instrumentalist,  I love your new vocal track “Heart” which was released a few weeks ago.  Can you tell me about the process of adding vocals to a song and what was going through your mind as you were producing that?

Alex (Sendr) sent me this massive demo with the vocals, chord progression and a bassline. It was a bit raw at the moment but the idea was there, so I started working on the mixing, processing the bassline, and adding new elements such as the lead, etc. The vocal/chords are so good, emotional and uplifting at the same time I still get goosebumps every time I listen to it. I’m so happy to have collaborated with Sendr on this song!

Do you sing, and would you use your vocals on one of your songs?

I wouldn’t say I’m a professional singer or anything, but yeah I think it’d be fun to incorporate some vocals or ad libs into my productions! What do you think, should I? 😉

What are your 5 favorite tracks of other artists in 2019?

I always showcase my favorite tracks on my monthly mixes, so let me pick them from there. In no particular order:

John Grand & Adam Sobiech – Last Call

Ferry Corsten & Nevve – Freefall

Above & Beyond ft. Zoë Johnston – There’s Only You

Quizzow – Era Of Tomorrow

Kolonie – Moments

Name your favorite remixes you’ve done this year?

I’m actually working on it haha so I can’t say too much about it, but apart from that, I’d say my Morgan Page Rework of ‘The Longest Road‘, which is also available to download for free on my Soundcloud.

With all of your success, I wanted to know how you manage your work with such passion, giving fans your all and avoiding burnout?

It’s all about staying healthy physically and mentally, and loving what you do because everyone has dark days but if you love your work enough, then you’ll get through it

What is it like to work with Above and Beyond?

I haven’t particularly worked with them (it’d be a dream come true) but they’ve been supporting my music on their radio show for two or three years now and I’m so grateful for it. They are legends!

You’ve recently signed to Armada Music, how did that come about? (Max Meyer Collaboration)

We worked on this clubby track ‘Hypnotized‘ with Max, and then we started looking for labels. I reached out to one of my contacts at Armada, and the timing was perfect cus it was also featured on Armin’s ASOT Ibiza 2019 compilation

What other artists (DJ, Vocalists, composers) would you like to work with?

Mark Knight, Above & Beyond, ilan Bluestone

You put out a monthly mix and often do guest mixes throughout the year. Is going on tour something you are considering?

Definitely, I’d love to. It’s something I’m working on with my mgmt agency, hopefully we can make it possible. It also depends on how well known I am in certain territories.

As 2019 is coming to a close what are you most excited about for 2020?

I still have a few more collabs to be released before 2019 ends which I’m very excited about, and a few others already signed for early 2020. So yeah, lots of great music to come, stay tuned to my socials if you don’t want to miss any. Thanks for the opportunity, thanks RiMo and Fresh Music Freaks! Cheers!
