MK Area 10 Miami Recap | The Pool Party That Had Our Waistline Moving To The Bassline

by The Freaks - Staff

Marc Kinchen also known as ‘MK‘ has made his mark on the dance music scene in the last couple of years, from hosting his own residency at the famous Ibiza Hard Rock Café to remixing high profile artists such as Tove Lo, Armand Van Helden and Silk City. It was clear that his brand Area 10 was going to be one of the best pool parties in Miami all week long.  He hosted some of the best upcoming artists while giving us amazing surprise guests such as Diplo himself!

One thing that has made the Area 10 pool party so special in the last two years has been the location.  The National has an amazing layout and the two pools surrounded with palm trees give party-goers that perfect tropical vibe.

Arriving at the National a little before 6 P.M. (Miami traffic is no joke during MMW), my crew and I were greeted by the sounds of Franky Rizardo. Truthfully I’m not familiar with this artist, but his set was a lot of fun to dance to. A welcome surprise. Hearing House remixes of classics such as ‘Pump Up the Jam‘ is always really exciting; who doesn’t love classic dance tracks? I got caught in the moment before we noticed Diplo taking over the decks at the start of sunset. He started off with an MK remix of “Electricity” by Silk City, mixing into a special edit of “Be Right There“. MK is seen stage side recording Diplo playing his remix; both of them locked eyes and started laughing. Diplo was really enjoying himself and it showed, playing a set filled with groovy mash-ups of his more well-known records. Ironically, Diplo didn’t reach for the mic once during his set; it was nice he let the music do the talking for once.

LeeFoss b2b Detlef followed Diplo, and I found this to be the perfect time to take a swim in the National’s beautiful pool. It was a nice way to refresh myself for the rest of the night, and an excellent way to prepare for the headliner we were all so excited for. MK started off with one of my personal favorites, ‘Piece of Me’, and played a set filled with all his original tracks. Everything from ‘17‘ (my favorite) to his remix of ‘I Need A Painkiller‘. It was the MK set I have been waiting so long for. It was an amazing time and this was definitely one of the highlights of my entire Miami Music Week experience!

Want to experience the hype for yourself this year? MK is returning to the National with an absolutely STACKED lineup including Lee Foss, Weiss, Anabel Englund, KC Lights, Leftwing:Kody, Martin Ikin, and Nightlapse! Don’t miss your chance to attend Area 10!
