DJ and producer MARZI continues his sonic reinvention with the emotionally rich Mixed Emotions EP, releasing July 4 via emerging dance label Modern Delivery. Expanding on the vulnerable club-ready sound heard in his viral single “Dancing & Crying,” the five-track project blends deep house rhythms with hip-hop-rooted production, tracing the raw highs and lows of modern emotional life.
Drawing directly from personal experience, MARZI approaches the dancefloor as both an escape and a mirror. “The Mixed Emotions EP is a reflection of the complex feelings we all go through — emotions I’ve personally experienced and poured into each track,” he shares. “I wanted to capture the way these feelings can hit us unexpectedly, even when we’re out partying or surrounded by friends.”
The EP features lead singles “Dancing & Crying” and “Type of Way” featuring Daria V, alongside three new additions that further underscore MARZI’s introspective club aesthetic:
- “Wait, Don’t Play” – a late-night banger built around urgent vocal chops and wistful synth melodies.
- “Rude Boy” – playful and percussive, this track nods to MARZI’s genre-hopping past while embracing a more dancefloor-driven future.
- “When I Drink” – a deeply personal highlight, it captures the emotional fallout that comes with solitude and memory. “It’s about those vulnerable moments when the buzz kicks in and all you can think about is the one person you miss most,” says MARZI. “You’d give anything to have them back, even just for a night. It’s raw and painfully real.”
While MARZI made a name for himself producing for industry heavyweights like Travis Scott, 6lack, Swae Lee, and NAV, Mixed Emotions marks his most intimate and independent project to date. It reflects a growing shift toward creative autonomy and a fearless dive into the dance music space — one filled with real emotion, sonic storytelling, and a universal sense of longing.
The EP is released via Modern Delivery, a newly minted electronic label spotlighting emotionally resonant and forward-thinking dance music. With Mixed Emotions, MARZI steps confidently into that ethos, offering a soundtrack for nights out — and the feelings that follow.
