Berlin-based producer MALUGI has officially arrived on Insomniac Records with his label debut, “Honestly,” a high-energy house anthem featuring acclaimed singer-songwriter Sam Harper. Blending emotional vulnerability with peak-time club energy, the release showcases the sound and personality that have made MALUGI one of dance music’s most exciting breakout artists.
Known affectionately by fans as the “Happiest Man in Dance Music,” MALUGI has built a devoted global following through his vibrant productions that blur the lines between hardgroove, trance, hardcore, techno, breakbeat, and classic ’90s rave influences. On “Honestly,” he shifts toward a distinctly UK-inspired sound palette, weaving speed garage rhythms, warped synth stabs, and bleep-driven basslines beneath Harper’s emotionally charged vocal performance.
Driven by energetic drum patterns and playful call-and-response production, the track explores the emotional aftermath of a fleeting romance without sacrificing its dancefloor appeal. Sam Harper’s soulful vocals transform heartbreak and vulnerability into an uplifting club-ready anthem, striking a balance between introspection and euphoria.
The collaboration follows the pair’s previous single, “I Feel the Love,” which has amassed more than 738,000 streams since its release in March, further highlighting the creative chemistry between the two artists.
For MALUGI, “Honestly” marks another milestone in what has been a rapid rise through the international electronic music scene. The Berlin-based producer has become one of the leading figures in a new generation of rave revivalists, releasing music alongside artists such as Marlon Hoffstadt, Narciss, and Confidence Man, while also delivering remixes for Chris Lake and Sammy Virji.
His momentum has continued to build following his selection as one of BBC’s Future Stars of 2025 and a recent residency on BBC Radio 1. Currently in the middle of his debut Hardcore Happiness headline tour across Europe, MALUGI is also preparing for an extensive 11-date North and South American run that includes appearances at EDC Las Vegas 2026, Knockdown Center, and a support slot for Disclosure at Club Space in Miami.
Joining him on “Honestly” is one of the industry’s most accomplished vocalists and songwriters. Sam Harper first broke through as part of Dopamine, co-writing and featuring on the Brit Award-nominated hit “Friday,” which achieved 15-times platinum certification worldwide and reached the UK Top 40. Since then, she has collaborated with artists including ALOK, Rita Ora, Faithless, and David Guetta, while also earning songwriting credits for global K-pop superstars BTS.
With “Honestly,” MALUGI continues to prove why he is one of the most exciting names emerging from Europe’s club scene. Combining UK-inspired house grooves, rave nostalgia, and emotional songwriting, the single serves as both a statement-making debut for Insomniac Records and another step forward in his rapidly growing career.
