Luci Gets Vulnerable with ‘y am i not okay’

by Eric Valencia

Songwriter and producer Luci is set to release her debut album, with the final single “y am i not okay” dropping via Create Music on April 7th. The track explores the emotions of moving on, acceptance and healing after a failed relationship, inspired by Luci’s personal experience of a sudden break-up. Fans can expect vulnerability in the lyrics, with lines like “I don’t know where it went wrong, but you keep telling me that your love is gone / Thought maybe it was a phase, but you just kept pushing me away.”

Luci’s upcoming album is highly anticipated, especially among her dubstep-turned-pop fanbase. She has been teasing the new release on social media, generating excitement among her followers. The artist hopes to resonate with listeners experiencing similar issues in their relationships, stating on Instagram that “it’s break-up szn.”

Going through a break up is hard..but going through a blind-sided break up is even harder. I was so in love with this girl and one day out of the blue, she told me that she didn’t want to be in a relationship anymore and found someone else. My heart was broken into little pieces and I didn’t understand why I wasn’t ok while she seemed to be doing the best she’s ever been so I wrote the song.”

Luci’s EP release was celebrated with a funeral for her previous relationships, complete with a coffin piñata, themed drinks, and house décor. The artist is committed to connecting with her fans and frequently engages with them on social media and at meet & greets. Luci plans to continue exploring the softer side of music for now and release a remix album reminiscent of her earlier electronic sound.

Luci’s music is rooted in dance and has evolved over the past five years to prioritize connection with the listener through captivating vocals, thoughtful lyrics, and production prowess. As a representative of the queer community, Luci advocates for the space women and femme-identifying individuals deserve in the industry. She is committed to shaping a better world through her music.
