Lamsi, the Amsterdam-based producer making waves in the global club scene, ignites 2024 with ‘Tyar Faya’, the first single from his forthcoming Dimi EP. Featuring Angolan-born, Lisbon-based producer Vanyfox and Surinamese vocalist Afu Sensi, this high-energy fusion of Surinamese Kawina and Angolan Batida drops on February 14th via The Herd Records.
A Firestarter for the Global Club Scene
Taking its name from Sranan Tongo—a Creole language blending English, Dutch, Portuguese, and West African dialects—‘Tyar Faya’ translates to “bring fire”. The track seamlessly merges Afu Sensi’s Surinamese vocals, Vanyfox’s signature percussive grooves, and Lamsi’s cutting-edge electronic production, pushing Surinamese and Angolan influences into new sonic territories.
“Inspired by how Jamaican patois resonates globally, I wanted to introduce Surinamese culture in a fresh and relatable way,” explains Lamsi. “Afu Sensi’s UK-inspired vocals add an international edge, blending tradition with modernity, creating a track that feels rooted yet globally connected.”
Lamsi: The Rising Star Blending Borders & Genres
A staple in Amsterdam’s experimental club scene, Lamsi has built a reputation for seamlessly blending grime, Afro-diasporic electronica, deconstructed breaks, and traditional Kawina rhythms. His collaborations with artists like Unknown T, Jarreau Vandal, and Ragz Originale have propelled him into the spotlight, earning him a Boiler Room debut in 2023 and a feature as one of Clash Music’s “Artists Who Could Define 2024”.
Following recent hits like ‘Give It 2 Me Now’ and Bambii’s ‘Slip Slide’, Lamsi continued his meteoric rise with the grime-heavy ‘S.I.T. PT.2’ alongside JME and £MONZO, and the club-driven ‘Scat Track’ with Lunice and Bianca Oblivion (LuckyMe).
A Tribute to Legacy: The Dimi EP Drops May 30th
‘Tyar Faya’ offers the first glimpse into Lamsi’s deeply personal Dimi EP, set for release on May 30th. Named in honor of his late cousin Dimitri, whose passion for music shaped his creative journey, Dimi is a genre-defying project merging Surinamese Kawina, gqom, grime, and Afro house into a forward-thinking club record.
With ‘Tyar Faya’, Lamsi continues his mission of breaking borders, amplifying Surinamese sounds, and pushing club music into thrilling new dimensions.
‘Tyar Faya’ is out February 14th via The Herd Records.
