Electronic powerhouses Laidback Luke and Henry Fong have joined forces for “Mami”, a Latin Bass House anthem bursting with infectious energy. Out January 31 via Dim Mak, the track fuses Dirty Dutch influences with UK Bass House, crafting a dancefloor-ready banger fueled by a sassy Baile Funk Portuguese sample.
Built around a bouncing FM bassline, groovy percussion, and a catchy vocal chop, “Mami” brings the best of both producers’ styles. Laidback Luke, a pioneer of the Dirty Dutch sound, and Henry Fong, known for his love of high-octane UK Bass House, effortlessly blend their influences into a track designed for peak-time club energy.
A Fusion of Dutch Beats & UK Bass House
Reflecting on their creative process, Laidback Luke shares:
“I’ve loved Henry’s stuff for a long time! When we got to the studio, he told me about his obsession with UK Bass House. Alternatively, I really want to bring the Dutch beats back, so the combination of the two genres resulted in this unique banger. Portuguese vocals always sound edgy, so that’s a really nice bonus to the track.”
Henry Fong adds:
“When Luke and I got into the studio, we wanted to recreate the feeling of the 2010s Dutch House era—big drums and vocals on the drop, but evolved for 2025. We finished the whole song in almost three hours, and it just came out effortlessly!”
