Kungs makes a powerful return with “Nasty,” a hypnotic new collaboration with Channel Tres, arriving 14th November 2025 via Island Def Jam.
A commanding mix of club tension and late-night attitude, “Nasty” signals a bold shift in Kungs’ sonic direction. The track pivots into deeper, darker terrain—warped basslines, sleek synth-driven melodies, and Channel Tres’ unmistakable baritone leading the charge. It trades the bright, sunlit energy of Kungs’ earlier hits for something far more underground.
“On Nasty, which I made in Los Angeles with Channel Tres, I aimed for a sleek, club-ready track driven by an Italo bassline and a devilishly catchy riff; something sexy, stylish, and made to move,” explains Kungs. “And with the album Out Loud, I wanted to break free from radio conventions and explore a blend of disco and rock influences with total freedom.”
One of the most distinctive voices in electronic music today, Channel Tres brings his signature fusion of house, funk, rap, and hip-hop rooted in the pulse of Compton. Known for cult staples like “Controller” and “Topdown,” and collaborations with Honey Dijon, Kaytranada, Polo & Pan, Jungle, Robyn, and Disclosure, he continues to blur the line between underground grit and mainstage appeal.
“When I wrote Nasty, it made me think of what we say in Compton when I’m with the homies—when someone does something spectacular, we call it nasty. When a musician is playing something funky, we call it nasty. Or when someone gets dunked on in basketball, we’ll say that was nasty. It’s really about popping your shit—letting someone know you’re great,” says Channel Tres.
For Kungs, “Nasty” marks a definitive new chapter. After breaking through globally with “This Girl,” which topped charts in more than 45 countries and pushed his debut album Layers into multi-platinum territory, he spent the past year reconnecting with the club foundations that first shaped him. His recent work dives fully into that world—raw, physical, and built for dark rooms and low ceilings.
Kungs, born Valentin Brunel, has built a remarkable career defined by innovation and an unmistakable musical identity. His 2021 single “Never Going Home” became the post-lockdown anthem of the summer, earning Diamond certification in France, Double Platinum in Italy, and Platinum in Poland. His second album Club Azur, a vibrant fusion of funk, house, and Italo-disco, became a love letter to club culture and achieved Gold certification in France and Double Platinum overseas. With more than 14 billion global streams and performances at Ultra Music Festival, Tomorrowland, and Coachella, he has collaborated with icons including Lenny Kravitz, Dua Lipa, Carlita, and Purple Disco Machine.
Now, Kungs prepares to launch his next era with OUT LOUD, his new album arriving 13th March. Mixed and mastered with German powerhouse Boys Noize, the project explores a world where disco, rock, and French Touch collide—a testament to an artist continually pushing his own boundaries.
The release of “Nasty” coincides with Kungs’ headline show at Ritter Butzke in Berlin, where fans can expect an extended set showcasing new material alongside the electrifying energy that has made him a global dance figure.
